Then when I was in my teens it was stuff like Bananarama, the Go-Go's, Susanna Vega......whomever did "I wear my sunglasses at night." That's when I was of driving age and me and my friends made our daily trips to the Daytona beach.

Well, my Dad was in the military for 23 years and they used to get 30 days of leave annually. He would save it all to take during the summertime. All of our vacations were either camping or visiting relatives. When we lived in Europe, it was camping. We lived in Paris from 1972-1973 and we lived in Germany from 1975-1978 and each summer we went camping around Europe - France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland. I still remember some of it. At the time there were 3 of us sisters (3 came along a little later) but we didn't really eat in restaurants. We had fresh foods from the local markets and would cook our meals, and eat fresh bread, cheese, veggies and fruit. Many times lunch was a baguette, apples, and gouda cheese. We played some games, sang songs (my Dad played guitar and my Mom played the autoharp), did TONS of reading, lots of swimming, and exploring.
We did camp frequently in the U.S. but also spent much of our vacations with our relatives on both sides of the family. They were all in the Northeast, so we got to enjoy cooler, drier summers....ahhhh...those were the days.
As an adult, due to lack of funds, I haven't taken many vacations but most of them have included the beach in one way, shape, or form.
Can't WAIT until next weekend

You will love them both when you do, Angie! Whenever you get to France, though, don't just spend time in Paris. Yes, it is beautiful and I love it there, but southern France is just so wonderful. We have an office in Avignon and I worked there for many months in 2006...the people are lovely, and the area is gorgeous...you can't beat it, really. Yes, I love Paris, I really do...but my heart is in Provence!

I have...although you certainly don't appreciate it when it's happening many times. I lived in Morocco from 1982-1985 and being the rebellious teenager, skipped many of the day trips my family took. I sooo wish I'd gone now!
One of my most memorable trips was in 1997 when I still worked for the goverment. I spent 2 weeks in the Middle East - Jordan, Israel, and Lebanon. Even though it was for work, my coworker and I spent quite a bit of time site seeing. We spent one weekend in Jerusalem and what an awesome experience it was to be in the birthplace of the three major religions - Christianity, Judaiism and Islam. I love looking at my pictures!
