Hello....Newbie Here on the Board!
Hi Terri - LOL, He is a snazzy dresser, LOL- and he is kind of funny too. Two of my friends at work went with him too - and both said he didn't have muh of a bedside manner - but at my first appt this week, I thought he was kind of funny, actually! I only need a fraction of the normal slew of pre-op tests (go Kaiser!) but one is of course an abdominal ultrsound and he really scared me at first, when he saw in my med history I had my gallbladder - and appendix out - when I was 19. First he asked if it was open surgery - and I said "Dude! That was 1981 - take a guess!" and he laughed! Here I am thinking, OK, I don't have a gallbladder Or an appendix, so he will have lots of room to manuever - but in actuality, he said it is the opposite - it's quite common for surgeons doing an open procedure to just leave things kind of messy in there, and that makes it harder for future laparascopic procedures....so now I'm thinking, Uh oh, I might have to have OPEN surgery?????AYE CARRAMBA!!!! But during the exam he saw my scar - it is very high, all well above my waist - and he was like - "Ah, you're fine, unless I see a lot of destruction on the ultrasound, you're fine for the lap." I chuckled ...... "destruction"....???? Geez, what might my gallbladder surgeon have done lo these many many MANY years ago now....guess we'll find out when I get gooed up and they do the ultrasound - in early July.
