Oh my, im going to try and type this but forgive me im hungover. He said nothing showed on the ugi. He said my stomach was swollen around the band and im having esophageal spasms. he gave me amitriptyline for the spasms and told me to try that until Monday. If im still no better by Monday he will take the band out then. I took one last night and I really feel out of my body. My head is so cloudy right now and I just got up, thank God marty was here to get the kids up for school. He would like for me to be patient and wait for the swelling to go down a few more weeks but I dont think I can hack a few more weeks on liquids and feeling like this. Ive lost another  7 pounds this week.

Oh, Lord, as soon as you said amitriptyline, that said it all!!  I used to have to take that for severe bouts of IBS, and after one, I was in La-La Land for at least a day!!!  It's wicked stuff.  But it helped, so here's hoping it'll help you, too.

I wonder WHY you're having spasms?

I wish there was something more I could do for you - I know we all feel helpless!

Hang in there, and just try to rest and get as much fluid in as possible.

Hugs,

T

Thanks so much!  I was really worried about you.  My stomach was swollen for a while and very painful but I dealt with it thinking it's part of the process.

I hope that medicine keeps you "out of it" and "sleeping in" so that you can recover.  I feel like you might have jumped up and started doing things too soon, (going to work 3 days after surgery)  and I know it's difficult as a mother and wife to "not" do anything so that we can recover.  We believe to be tough people, and that only we can do the jobs that we do day in and day out.  But sometimes, we've got to let go - we won't lose the job permanently and they'll be glad to let you take over once you're better.

And don't worry about being uncouth and appearing on the board hungover - some of us are.....SMILES!

Did Dr. Singh tell you what the next step would be if you were to get the Band taken out? Could you still be on a journey with us?  Or does this mean that when they take it out - you'll have to try to lose weight without tools?

amyltriptyline makes me so groggy and I slur my words...

what about a muscle relaxer?  isn't the stomach a muscle?

Candy I hear what you are saying but I really dont think I over did it that much. i only went back to work a week after surgery and its a desk job typing at home. I cant be out of it too much while marty is working and this drug has really done a number on me. I may cut it in half tonight and see if that helps. This is the kids last week in school so thats good. I just feel like im out of my body right now and cant really get a grip on things at this moment. I know what you mean about just toughing it out and waiting it out a few more weeks but you have to remember ive had no food and im not even able to do full liquids. I can only get half a protein drink in and it does me in for hte day. Ive lost a little over 30 pounds in a little over 3 weeks. Im miserable and weak and tired. I have not worked for a while now because I just cant concentrate. So im really ready to get my life back. No he did not give any other options and Im fine with that. At this point I really dont want to do anything else. He just said if im no better by monday to call him and he will fit me in as an emergency and take it out. Im going to tough it out until Monday and see if im able to eat by then. If not I will call him. Im trusting what my body is telling me. Everyone knows their own body best and I know what mine is saying to me. I know it sounds like im giving up but really im not.

Mellie, I am so sorry that you are having such problems. I hate to see it when a WLS patient does everything he/she is supposed to do and has issues.  Especially when you hear of people eating around their surgery and not having one problem.  I'm keeping a good thought for you.  It's just not fair.

I do appreciate the support Ive gotten here on this board. You guys are wonderful. Im just not in a great place right now, but I know it will get better. I really wanted this to work, but sometimes it just doesnt and thats ok. Im more worried about what, if any, damage will be there now if it gets removed.
