we can ride bikes on the boardwalk between 6 am and 9 am

can we rent bikes there like in OC?  I would love to ride...even if i have to get a trike...

yes, they do have entertainment on weekends in Bethany. We can rent bikes but the boardwalk is not anywhere near as long as OC. We could drive to OC and rent bikes there if you want.

OH i'd be game for that.  I LOVE riding bikes on the boardwalk.  I just don't know how up to it I am it's been YEARS....

Are you ocean or canal side?  Do we need parking permits? Is it a long walk to the beach?

It is canal side. It is about 1 1/2 miles to the beach. We drive but have to pay for parking there. If everyone can bring a handfull of quarters that would be great. No parking permit for my house. It is not a condo but a 3BR/2BA rancher in a nice neighborhood with a nice grocery store right up the street. I have a particulary nice spot where we can see a beautiful sunset. Oh...and we belong to the VFW that is down the road from us right on the bay. It is beautiful down there for sunsets. They have steamed shrimp on Sat nights and music to dance to. I was there one night and there was a bunch of women there doing the "boot scootin boogie". I jus****ched but would have loved to join in. I am such an introvert.

Okay, note to self . . . quarters.  Where you usually go to the beach, is there a bathroom?  We rented for a week in Bethany a couple of years ago (house) and they gave us a parking permit.  I guess it depends on where you go.

I don't think there is a bathroom. We pee in the ocean...ssshhh! We go poopie before we go to the beach. It is so close if you need to go back to the house it really is not a problem. I wish I knew where to get one of those permits.

You know, I really struggled with my reply because I WANTED to say, "Hello? Aren't we gonna be IN God's potty?"  Thank you for taking the pressure off of me, Gail!!!

Comfort Station The comfort station is located at the beach front on Garfield Parkway. It provides restroom facilities for beachgoers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The facility is climate controlled and offers a baby changing station for families with little ones.

I probably won't have to "go" but you know I'm a planner.  I want to have all my bases covered.
