OT - what would you think?

You have a friend named Amanda.

Amanda brings a guy named Joe over. She's dating this guy. As in sleeping with him and in love with him apparently.

Joe is:

- brash
- uncouth
- really bad sense of humor - nasty kind, not really funny
- likes dirnking a case of beer every night
- doesn't have a job
- doesn't really have a house anywhere, goes place to place doing odd jobs for family/friends and they pay for his food/housing/clothes for that amount of time
- Joe is also married, has been for 10 years. hasn't lived with the woman for 8 but hasn't bothered to get a divorce
- smokes incessantly
- smells bad

If you get past all of this

- Joe is also Amanda's cousin - first cousin, as in her mother's brother's son

What is your reaction?

stupid me, missed the most important point. I just added that sentence. She's dating him.

But remember, blood is thicker than water, so Amanda might not necessarily "see" these traits.

And lastly, I have to ask - in addition to them being cousins, is there something else going on? (cue the banjos!)

I think THAT pretty much sums up MY reaction.  Now I'm curious:

Pretty much the same and then some people started saying well who cares if they're cousins. So, that's why I summed up the rest of it. That, even beyond the relationship, he's got nothing going for him. but, I wanted to see if the cousin angle was only making me all creepy crawlied up.

No, it creeps me out, too.

Even if he was NOT all of those things, he'd STILL be her cousin.  And people who have sex can have children - O M F G! the ramifications of THAT are just too scary to consider.

Now I'm curiouser - does she know how you feel?

Yes and in our final conversation, I told her if she ended up with him, we'd never be able to hang out like the whole family hanging out because I cannot stand him

Probably yes, BUT I would have to get over it, if I wanted her as a friend. I think. I don't know because he's not all that, you know?
