I'm home
Well I had assumed he pulled out any that was put in there and he said maybe it leaked in, maybe I misunderstood him. Anyway after he took that out he said it was completely empty. He pulled out a little over 1 cc and a lot of air. I really wish I knew what it was. My husband has had no problems and in fact is eating very good. Hes on solids now. I just wish I knew why I cant get anything in. Today I forced a slimfast and got almost the whole can in but i paid the price for an hour or so afterwards with my belly hard as a rock and distended. since then ive had burping and heartburn for hours. I really just dont think this is normal at all. How much pureed were you able to eat after surgery when you got to the pureed point? I can force about 2-3 teaspoons but thats it.
Wow Mel! At 3 weeks I didn't have to "force" anything! I was able to eat probably 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food. All of my swelling was gone by then. Can your insurance get you into Advanced Radiology or American Radiology??? My insurance won't pay for a UGI at Hopkins, but I can go off campus. You need to be seen immediately. This sounds like it's something beyond normal swelling. What size band do you have?
No this is the best I can do unfortunately because he wants to be able to view the films himself so he wanted them done at the hospital or the imaging place next to the hospital. Im hoping to be able to take them with me and go to his office after but I gotta call tomorrow and see if I can do that. I have no clue what size band but I intend to ask him when I see him again. Im wondering if he chose a band thats too small for me or something. I dont know but like I said Marty has had no problems at all and I just cant catch a break. I really dont think its swelling either this far out.
I had mine done at Advanced Radiology and they gave me copies of the films to take to my doctor to view. When you do go, remind them that the doc is going to want to see the barium contrast GOING THROUGH THE BAND. If not, the doc is gonna want you to repeat! (been there, done that!) Try to keep yourself hydrated. Remember, WARM fluids will go down easier than COLD ones will (cold restricts the band, warm makes it looser). If you can, use a warm heating pad 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off, repeat. Should help with any swelling. Whatever the problem is probably IS causing some kind of swelling on top of the real issue. I wish you well; keep in touch!
