How common are hernias after RNY and how often is surgery required?  What is the cause of this?

hey Ren

a hernia is usually caused by weak muscles, so after RNY it's somewhat common becasue your stomach muscles have been cut through and they're weaker. I know quite a few people who had hernia surgery aftre their RNY.

The con is that it's another surgery.

The pro is that sometimes, you can get a tummy tuck at the same time if the doctor is willing. The insurance is paying for the hospital stay etc. so you just pay the plastic surgeon's fees, which is usually a lot less than if you wanted that tummy tuck by itself.
