Pity and disappointment
I know our choices are limited but I am very thankful that i eat so much healthier now which leads me to the disappointment portion of this post. why must healthy food be so expensive. i feel like I'm being penalized for taking care of myself. Is the process of producing healthy food more expensive than for junk food???????
Oh and by the way, i ws told on facebook that i looked better when i was fat LOL

My sister is health nut. Her family is slim and trim. We talked about my progress this weekend and she gave me some great shopping tips, Shop the outside isles unless you need shaving cream and soap. Dont buy anything in a can except tuna. Fresh clear eyed fish. condiments in small bottles. Tea in bags. small quantities of fresh veggies and fruit. No sliced bread. Beans and pasta in bags not boxes or cans. And oh yes, string beans, asparagas, peas, carrots, broccoli are better than tomatoes, corn, Red meat once a week maybe, no cereals except oatmeal. Eggs -soft boiled or as an ingredient. These tips blew my whole idea of a great shopping experience and a Sunday dinner. I made the changes and I FEEL TERRIFIC
I've traveled and noticed this is how the rest of the world shops. Europeans shop for 2-3 days. Asians for 1-2 days. Their pantries and refrigerators are not stocked with salad dressings, sauces, eggs, condiments and leftovers. Pantries have no cans, boxes or bottles. Hummmmmmmm
We like filling the cart and looking at the bill as an investment. I see carts topped off with bread, chips and donuts. I see junk paid for with food cards
It doesnt bother me anymore. I just stare until I make eye contact. Thats enough
When our NUT came to our house pre op she cleaned out the kitchen/pantry. It has stayed clean since.
Good luck
I am still eating to many process things :( Canned soups, etc. Eggs are done via a recipe I got on here for an omlet, but of course I always add cheese. I need more ideas for fast healthy alternatives...
I admit, the "junk" is gone from my diet - beef jerkey and nuts are the only snacks I eat, other than the odd cheese stick on the go. Meal wise, I manage to cook at home a few nights a week and try for leftover for lunches, but most days it is just to overwhelming for me. I end up with a frozen dinner or Wendy's chili.... :(
Aaron, if they thought you looked better fat, you should have suggested the need eye glasses and dietary training to learn about what healthy was! I will take health and longevity over looking good any day - of course I am not 18 any more either! As long as you FEEL good, who cares what anyone else thinks!
I know you just threw that last line in there, but please, can I slap the FB Fool???
I agree, to a certain extent, that junk food is cheaper. Hell, go to the Dollar Store - you can feed a family for very little!!! Likewise, all of the fast food places have their infamous value menus - most of the stuff on it is junk, too!
However, I think with a little creativity, you can now eat very well for relatively little. Think about it - a pound of boneless chicken breasts goes a long way now. It's starting to be farmer's market season, too - there's nothing like homegrown produce! I don't really see that our choices are limited - yours may be, but that's because you're EXTRA picky!!! LOL!!! I'm also very fortunate that my local grocery store has the best prices on meats and seafood in our area, so I stock up when crabmeat is $6.00 a pound and chicken breasts are $1.99 a pound!
I've given you some ideas in the past, and am happy to do so anytime!! If all else fails, there's always refried beans!!!! LOL!!!
