Dr. Gandsas???
Hi Catharine D. -
I am one of the lucky and honored ones to be cared for by Dr. Gandsas. He has many patients out there...he is the best kept secret in Baltimore!
I originally went to John Hopkins but made a change to Sinai because I felt JH did not meet my needs. I chose Dr. G because I did my research and saw that we was an experienced bariatric surgeon and had may patients in KY before coming in MD. I had RNY surgery on 1/8/09 and all went well. However, I had have a minor complication - bleeding - and Dr. G's compassion and professionalism was more than I can ask for. I stayed in the hospital for 5 days and was well taken care of and I was not getting released until he felt I can go home .The nurses at Sinai are AMAZING!!!! I loved all of them and they were very encouraging and supportive.
I know Dr. G is a big advocate for the sleeve. I, however, felt the RNY is best for me due to my severe hormonal problems with PCOS. He only cares about you living a healthy lifestyle and not go back to your old heating habits so he will stress this fact and I appreciate it. I am almost 6 months out of surgery and have lost about 73 lbs. I have gone from a size 26/28 to 16/18. Dr. G has saved my life!!!
On a side note, I would urge you to invest in the book "The Real Skinny on Weight Loss Surgery" and take it with you to the hospital. This book talks about all the possible complications that you might have and what to expect. I have the book but forgot to take it with me.
Please let me know if you have any specific questions and I would be happy to answer or feel free to PM and I will give you my phone number.
Best of luck and I cannot wait to hear all about your surgery!!!
Iman
PS - he is pretty cute and the accent is to die for!
