Good luck.  I had surgery when Ethan was around 6 months old - I breast fed him as soon as I was wake enought to feed him - I pumped and dumped right after surgery but by 6 - 7 hours out I fed him.  Where did you deliver Lacie - I would also call the lactation specilaist to get their take on the matter.

Hey Ellen!  The lactation consultant at GBMC (where I had Lacie and Kylie) told me I didn't have to wait at all, but I could start when I FELT up to it.  I'm assuming my belly will be sore from the gas like last time and won't feel like nursing right away so I'll pump and freeze some for her for the day if necessary and take the pump to relieve myself from the full breasts.

I saw Dr. Schweitzer on a Monday and had my surgery date the same week on Friday.  Now I'm going in for a "fix" so it's probably a little different than being approved for initial surgery.  If I remember correctly it took about two weeks or so to get my approval the first time.
