Did anyone develop a headache a few days post op? Ive got one that wont go away. I took my migraine meds and it gets rid of it for like an hour or two but it comes back. Im trying to drink lots of fluids but I know Im not drinking enough. I started on broth yesterday also.

It may be post-op due to the drugs they give you, or have you stopped "using" caffeine?  That's always a possibility.  Either way, hope it subsides soon.

Try an ice pack.

Lisa I only used the PCA about 3 times in the hospital and havent used the dilaudid since tuesday i think. i gave up caffeine a long time ago so im sure its not that. either way i had some tea this morning with caffeine in it and it really didnt help the headache. i think i need more fluids or something. im really only drinking about 16 ounces a day of water then scant amounts of broth and popcicles. I had a temp last night so i think i may be getting dehydrated. gonna try to push the fluids hard today.

Mellie -

I was going to say that if you're not getting enough fluids in, that could be the issue.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE try to stay on top of that.  You DON'T want to end up back in the hospital.  Keep a bottle of water with you at all times and try to constantly sip.

Hugs,

Tia

Sounds like dehydration to me!  It's hard to do in the beginning but you have to constantly sip, sip, sip.  Soups...s/f jello...s/f popsicles...all count as fluids!

Hope it gets better!

Mellie:

Just one more thing.  I found it easier to get in warm fluids rather than cold.  Hope this helps.

Actually it does. I was able to get down a fair amount of warm tea this morning and warm broth twice today. I seem to be keeping the headache away with a tylenol (can only manage to get 1 down) and ive been sipping all day and trying to keep some type of fluid in constantly. i really think its a combination of the gas/dehydration. ive also got out and walked a lot today and i seemed to be burping a lot and some pressure is gone.

Hi Mellie,

Everyone has given you great advice.  Try to keep adding more fluids, I know it is not easy I barely got that same amount of fluids so early out. I also had a continuous headache after surgery and it all lasted for about a week and a half.   Just make sure to call your doctor if it doesn't get better.

Take care and welcome to Loserville!

Hugs,
