3 THINGS FOR TGIF!!
Good Morning Everyone and Happy Holiday Weekend!
Well, my life changed significantly yesterday. I have joined the forces of the unemployed. There was a major workforce reduction at my office yesterday afternoon and I am one of them. Needless to say, I am spending time on the resume today. I do so wish I had done it sooner, but I was busy working! Sigh! Anyway, for this moment I am OK. Sure I am worried. I have a lot of bills. But I have a number of leads to follow up on. Hopefully, something will come out of all of this soon.
They are letting me keep my laptop until Tuesday so that I can clean up some stuff (mostly personal) from the laptop. I have the equipment to set up my own PC at home. I will do that this weekend. Hopefully, there will be no interruption in my ability to remain online. I will keep in touch with Darla and Tia should I lose Internet for any period of time.
Today, I am grateful for....
1 - For the reaction from a couple of my co-workers when they found out. It is nice to know you will be missed. For the contacts I have from over the years. I am hoping this will yield something productive soon. For my friends who have already sent some leads my way.
2 - For my WLS - This is the 3rd time this has happened to me in my life. I have always felt that my weight was a major turn off when I interviewed in the past. This time (aside from my age), I am more confident in my ability to represent myself as a competent, confident potential employee.
3 - For the care and loving from my family and friends. They are already rallying behind me. Knowing that they and you are there really helps my spirit.
4 - For the hope that this is a blessing in disguise. I won't miss the extra early conference calls every day and the late emails every day in addition to the full work day. I really needed a change and now I am forced to seek it.
Sorry if there is a theme to my writing today. I WILL get past this.
have a super weekend everyone

Just know that we are here for you: If you need a scanner for your resume let me know.
I pray you will find something that is right for you. I know how much time you put into your
work and was shocked when you emailed yesterday. I figured you would be one of the
last ones laid off due to the amount of time you put in.
If you need to talk this weekend give me a call : I'm not planning a thing.

Thanks Darla - I have a printer, fax, scanner, copier, all-in-one thing. I admit I have not used the scanner or fax, but most places will take an email. So I should be OK there.
It was a major reduction. The whole row of offices I sat in were also let go. QA work is often targeted because its benefit is not directly recognized as benefiting the bottom line. But some of the other positions were very visible and integral to daily operations. I sort of expected this was coming. I just did not expect it yesterday / so soon. They did not even wait until the end of a pay period or the project we were in the middle of with a target date of June 7th. I offered to go over my stuff with someone so they could continue. But I think they only half listened.
I guess I should not worry about it any more. However, I care about my work. I care about the people that are still there. And deep down. I want the business to succeed. This was the first time I ever worked for a start up.The business won tons of awards in 5 years. The economy is really affecting Sales.
Anyway - back to the resume writing.....
And thanks as always!

Deb:
You will find something. And you know what they say, when one door closes, another one opens. I hope yours opens soon. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do. I used to work in HR, and I've been layed off myself and know how it feels.
