No DS for me
I got a call from my Endo today, he will not fill out any of the paperwork for me to go to Dr Vanguri. He said he has seen his work, has worked with him at a hospital here locally, and refuses to let me go to him for surgery. So, I have three options, wait untill someone else here local starts doing DS, go somewhere else and get an RNY, or just say screwit and live fat with diabetes and sleep apnea and die early. I can't find anything bad about Vanguri, the complaints I have seen are more about the hospital than the Dr. Right now I am so disaapointed I'm about to say screw it. The only thing I had going for me has been yanked out from under me and I am right back on my fat a$$$.
I have two Drs, I respect (my primary and a vasculaiar surgeon) who like Vanguri, and one I respect who doesn't, so much so he would rather me not have any surgery then go to Vanguri

if you like and trust this doctor (and I've not heard about him to be honest) and your PCP will support you, why does your ENDO matter so much?he has to release your medical files TO YOU and then YOU can take them to the doctor of your choice.
What IF he is right.

Hi Tom,
I understand your dilema. What exactly did your Endo say about Dr. Vanguri? Everyone has an opinion and it's up to you to decide what or who you listen too. Unfortunately no surgeon can be perfect or highly recommended by every Doctor. I know it's scary but mistakes happen to good surgeons too. CHeer up you will find the surgeon for you!

Vanguri is pretty new to the DS am I right? He's not a name you run into often when discussing the DS.
Also, why do you have your heart set on the DS? Have you thought of the VSG? I know Dr. Schweitzer was doing the DS in one surgery but stopped, stating that he will do it in 2 stages if needed, but mostly his patients are successful with VSG alone. I do believe part of his concern is the amount of nutritional deficiences that are possible with the DS and patient compliance with the vitamin regimine.

Crash:
Every one here is right you decide what dr you comfortable with and make the final decission.
Depending upon what hospital you will be going to you can look up Dr Vanguri and get his success rating. I did that with my orthopeidic surgeon and I had my knee surgery at Franklin Square Hosptial. There I found out that he had no malpractice suits in at least the last 10 yrs. he has been at Franklin Square Hospital for his entire career.
