Scheduling repair surgery!!!!

Well, I went into the surgeon's office today expecting to have my band refilled.  The radiologist's report said that my band looked fine, no slip, but I took the films into the docs today per their order.  After Dr. S looked at the upper GI films he said, "Nope no fill, we need to get you scheduled for surgery, you have a major slip."  He asked if I wanted my band removed!  I told him I cannot live without it or some kind of restrictive surgery.  So, he will go in and try to pull my stomach back down and resuture it and if necessary he will also resection it like the sleeve surgery.  He said my insurance won't pay for the sleeve as a revision, but they would pay if once he's in there he can't repair the slip.  When he told me this he got a look on his face and said, "do you get what I mean by that?"  So I think that I'm probably going to be getting a revision.  At this point I am waiting to get a call from his office for a surgery date.  The wierd thing is Kylie was with me and she asked EVERYONE we were in contact with if Mommy was getting a needle and they all told her no even though I kept telling her that Mommy WAS getting a needle for a fill.

Thanks Ellen!  Needless to say I'm out of the summer challenge until further notice.  The only thing that concerns me about needing surgery is how long I'll need to be in the hospital (because I'm breastfeeding Lacie).

Oh Heather - I sure hope this turns out in the best way possible for you (and the way you would prefer it to). Hopefully, you won't be in the hospital too long. Have you discussed the breast feeding with your MD? Are there any risks of lingering meds in your system from the surgery that will be a cause for concern once you are back home? Perhaps there are some things they can use that won't be of any concern.

Wishing you all the best!

I think sleeve surgeries are a 2 day stay so not too bad!  As soon as they call me with a date I will have them make arrangements for breastfeeding friendly meds.  I will also contact La Leche League as Nessa recommended.  I'll keep everyone posted!

Thanks Nessa, I will definitely get ahold of LLL and also have Lacie  brought in as much as possible.  She still nurses in the middle of the night so Daddy might have to wake up to feed my little chicken.
