I am going to check with the nutritionist about this the next time I go, but my therapist mentioned it and I realized I didn't know the answer:  Does anyone know how long the pre-op liquid diet is required by Hopkins and/or Dr. Steele?  I am sure they told me at some point, but I can't remember, I know it varies from surgeon to surgeon.  Thanks!

Hi Kelly,

Dr. Steele did not require me to have a liquid diet preop.  I was told just nothing after midnight the night before surgery!  It surprised me, but okay by me?!    HOWEVER, the day before my surgery, I planned of course to take it easy, but our office Christmas luncheon out was that day.  I went out, had a light lunch, thinking the whole time, I can't beleive I'm eating and having GBP tomorrow morning!  But when I got back to the office there was a message on my phone from Dr Steele office telling me I should do a liquid diet that day, the message was recorded at about 1PM!  LOL!!!  Actually my reaction was more like WTF??  When I called the office in a tad of a panick, I said "too late!"    I was told don't worry about it would be okay.  My point is Dr. S can and has been known to change her mind.  LOL!!!   I think it all depends on the patient.  I'd just wait to see, they'll tell you, maybe.

That's what I thought, Mari.  My therapist was really surprised when I said that I didn't think I was going to have to do one.
