Summer Youth Employment Program
Thanks to funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), BCOWD will sponsor a six-week summer employment program for 1,000 eligible youth, ages 14 - 24. The program will provide the opportunity for youth to gain valuable work experience at public and private sector businesses. Participants will work 30 hours per week and earn a starting wage of $8 per hour. The selection of participants is based on the eligibility criteria set by ARRA. For additional details download an application for the 2009 Summer Youth Employment Program.

Employers interested in providing an opportunity for youth to gain meaningful work experience skills, can submit their request by downloading a worksite request form.

my daughter is 16 and has an IEP....  but our income is so high... she's trying to find a job....

I don't want her to take away from a kid that REALLY needs a job... I wonder if she should apply or not.

Same with us (income) but I thought somebody's child may benefit from this.

Have a good day

Regardless of who it is for someone's child, neighbor or friend may benefit from having a summer job...

Who may benefit:

A child of a  single mom or dad

A  child of a parent on a fixed income or one whose parent may have lost their job

A disabled child

However, as you see it I just thought to pass the info on to others :o)
