I think I have to reschedule
Well I brought Marty home today and he is not doing so well. He's having a good amount of pain for which the Dilaudid is helping and he is moving around really really slow. I just don't think he is going to be up to taking me for my surgery in 6 days and then bringing me home and trying to help me and kids. Its for the best but man Im bummed. So about how long will he need to get recovered good? I have no clue when she will be able to get me in again, ugh. Oh well.
Also a question for the banders...his port site is really red underneath, is that normal? Its not warm or anything but just red. Dr. Singh looked at everything this morning before he left but tonight it looks red.
One more thing he is shivering like crazy whenever he stands up. He says he's not cold and in fact he's kind of sweaty but his teeth are chattering. Ive been checking his temp and bp and they are normal.

Mellie, I'd wait until Friday to see how he feels before canceling anything. By day three I was feeling mostly normal again. I sure would hate to see you cancel your surgery then regret it.
I do recall being very shivery and cold for the first couple of days. Chalked it up to post-anesthesia. My port area was sore and where it was stitched to the muscle felt like I'd been kicked by a bull, but not very red and was not hot. As long as his temp and BP are normal, I would just keep an eye on it for a bit. I know everyone is different, but I can tell you that after a couple of good night's sleep, I really felt pretty good.
I'll be keeping a good thought for you two.

Oh Terri thank you for those encouraging words. I just got him into bed finally. He was sitting in the recliner and couldnt get comfy. He is just feeling miserable and of course regretting it right now. I told him he will feel better in a few days or so when the pain eases up. Im trying to pamper and keep him as comfy as possible right now. Maybe I will wait and see how he feels in a few days. I really hope he gets back to normal soon. I hate seeing him like this.
I felt more human after a good 24 hours at home. I walked around a lot and I didn't take my pain medication - only tylenol. I was driving 3 days after surgery (I went to my niece's recorder concert.) I wouldn't cancel your surgery just yet. Wait a bit.
My port sight was the sorest spot. It was the largest inscision. I don't remember if it was red because it was covered up. If he doesn't have a fever and his BP is good I wouldn't worry to much - if it changes then I would call the doctor.
Hope he feels better soon.
