I can't believe how fast this day got here for Marty. The time has just flown by so incredibly fast. Surprisingly he is absolutely fine, nerves of steel. I'm not. Ive been a basket case since last night. I think someone needs to give me a good slap across the face. It's hard to believe in a few short hours Marty will be on the losers bench with you all!

He is so dried out. He drinks a lot to begin with but today its worse because no drinking and his cpap dries him out. Ive told him to put some chapstick on. Any other ideas to help him get through til surgery and afterwards with no liquids?

Much luck to Marty and a speedy recovery.  Keep us posted.

Whom ever said that people who have WLS are taking the easy way out, have never had this experience.  This is a journey and a major challenge.  Step by step I am striving to make it as a loser!!

Mellie's Marty!!!

Good luck to both of you!!  I remember how much I just wanted something, anything to drink prior, but unfortunately, I don't have any tips.  As far as afterward, immediately after surgery, he may not want anything and until then, those yummy (ICK) lemon flavored swabs may come in handy, until they start him on

Just hang in there - both of you!!  Please keep us posted!!

Hugs,

Tia

they actually gave me ice chips that i could melt in my mouth right after surgery.....THAT WAS A FREAKIN GODSEND!  As for before......I don't think i had a problem being dry....although i should have worn my CPAP, I didn't the night before so maybe....JUST MAYBE the little tubes up the nose (I can't remember what they are called) that give you oxygen could be just enough pressure that after the surgery, that's all he's going to need.  I know it was for me....my CPAP pressure is at a 12.
