OT........I Just Need To Vent!

Good afternoon all! So I have been away from here for a week or so....my life is chaotic, to say the least! I just need to vent & then I will shut up!
First, I am trying to plan my 16 year olds graduation......party, family, so on and so forth. It is nerve wracking!!!! We have a very different family.....I have my mother who raised me, I have my adopted father who was the only dad I ever knew, I have my sperm donor & his family............can you see why this is nerve wracking?!?!?!?!?!? Need less to say NONE of them get along.......& yes, IT IS TOO  much to ask that they get along for ONE fricking day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Secondly, my hubby can not find a job anywhere! He is a truck driver with 16 years under his belt, and 8 years supervisory experience in warehousing. For 2 months I have watched him search high & low for a job......hell, even McDonalds hasnt called back! He is starting to urk me cuz his self esteem & manly ego are bruised.........I just wanna smack him! The compassionate, understanding wifey has taken a back seat to overly *****y wifey!
Lastly, but by no means leastly, our landlord called us last Friday, to say they want to put our home on the market! Yup, you guessed it, we have to move by June 1st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So...... if any of you know what its like to find a AFFORDABLE rental on the eastern Shore, you know why I am becoming irate! We went last night & looked at a home advertised in a local paper......can you say SHANTY?????? And it was $1200 a month!!!!!!!!!!! Ughhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sorry to go off the deep end here.....but I dont have many other choices because {although I need a place to live} my other option would find me 3 hots & a cot with weekend visits! I am sooooo ready to cry! I have vomited {TMI, sorry} my guts up due to nerves......my BFF is in DC working & cant be reached, so my next option was to vent here!
Oh, BTW, I love ya all! LOL

((( HEATHER )))  I was just thinking about you this a.m., wondering what nickname we can give you since there are several Heathers on the board.  But somehow, I don't think *****y Wifey Heather is a good one!!! LOL!!!

First of all and most importantly, I read your post to Darla - she's going to PM you a phone number for your hubby to call.  The trucking company she'll give you the number for is in Jessup, so it's sure not around the corner, drive-wise, but I know they need CDL drivers.  Worth a shot.

Secondly, if you have to get all the "adults" together and tell them to behave themselves, do it.  "Listen, all of you, this is MY child's day and while we want you there to celebrate with us, if you can't behave like adults, then I'm sorry, but we'll miss you."  Hell, ask the 16 year old - "Would you rather have the party or the $ we'd spend on the party?"  We do that with bday parties, and sometimes they want the party, sometimes they want the $! 

Lastly, I'm REALLY sorry about the housing situation.  I don't really have any contacts on the Shore, but I'll cross my fingers for you.

Come here anytime you need to vent.  We're not just friends in weight loss, we're friends.  Period.

   thanks so much! I am at my wits ends! Tell Darla I said THANKS!!!!! Jessup is a lil ride, but at this point, I would have him drive to MARS if I thought it would get him out of my hair!
Yeah, I talked to my daughter & she really wants to have her family get together. She is 16, graduating a year early, and enlsiting into the Navy & will be leaving for basic in October. I understand where she is coming from......she wants them to be proud of her, and support her. But they are acting like idiots! I even have tried planning 2 seperate parties & they still want to complain.......like its my fault they dont know how to act! Here is what I heard for planning 2 parties....."what, is she embarassed by us? She doesnt want us around her OTHER family?".......and my answer has been quite frank...."yes WE are embarassed by you & NO we dont want you around the others!" I dont care at this point whose feelings get hurt!
Hmms......a nickname huh? Well I have had a few......hooters, lippy, and well, a few I will choose to leave out! LOL.....but I am sure you will find me one! I am closer to my surgery....June 26th cant get here soon enough! Hell, its starting to look like a vacation to me!
I was planning on coming to the bingo this weekend, but given my current "have to move" state, I need to save $! But I hope you & your mom have fun! have a great weekend!

Just TRY to hang in there!!!  Concentrate on your amazing daughter!!!  Good for her for wanting her family to celebrate with her!!  Given that, they SHOULD act human!  But I know how the whole dysfunctional family thing is.

I am NOT calling you Hooters!!!!!!  LOL!!!!  I'll figure something out.

Don't give the bingo another thought - they have them frequently and I'll be sure to let you know.

Sorry all this is happening but I can relate. I will keep an eye out for you regarding a place to live on the shore.  Also, I will call the admin officer at our Chestertown location of State Highway and ask are they hiring there and also Easton and Denton.  SHA does not pay their truck drivers much to start but they start them a higher pay scale for a CDL and also they have benefits and it is steady job with plenty of overtime in the snow plus with options to move into other areas. My son started working there at age 19 at a paygrade 5 and two year and worked his way to a paygrade 21 at age 33 and now is in charge of an entire SHA Maintenance Shop so there are opportunties.  I will be in touch.

I think just about everyone has people in their families who don't get along. People should just suck it up and be there for your daughter. It irritates me when family members put you in the middle! I can see your frustration.

Sorry to hear about your hubby and your house. I'll keep my eyes/ears open.  Where exactly is Whorton? "Eastern Shore" is kinda vague.

  Worton is in Kent County, near Chestertown.  I am also about 30 minutes from Elkton. But I am open to move anywhere on this side of the ditch!

Oh Heather, please use us to vent away! Im so sorry you are going through all of this. I dont think I have any advice to give you on the family matters. Its your daughters day though so I say if you have to leave someone out because they cant play well with others let her choose who. Tell them if they can behave they can come, otherwise dont bother.

I hope your husband can get a job soon. If not, would he be willing to drive a school bus? My husband used to inspect buses and he said Talbot, Caroline, and especially Queen Anne County is always desperate for dependable drivers. Try calling the board of ed if he is interested in that.

I hope you can find something to rent. That stinks they are selling the house. We just took ours off the market and decided to stay after all. We thought about selling and then renting but were afraid of the same thing happening to  us. There are a few houses for rent in my area (Hillsboro/Ridgely) but I don't know how much they are asking and I dont know how far  you want to go.

Heather I am sorry for your pain. My hubby is a truck driver to with 29 years under his belt. Jobs are so hard to find. My hubby has no accidents or tickets and has been driving since he was 16 years old not even while driving trucks. The market sucks he cant even find a part time truck driving job for his days off.. I hope your family thing will work out as we all have family stuff.. I think its because people have a mind of their own and their own opinions... I don't know of any housing but if I hear or see something I will let you know....Hang in there things will get better.. I know its so hard.. I hope things turn around for you and your family soon...We are here for you and are always ready to listen..
