I want a muffin so bad!!!

One of my favorite breakfast's pre-op was Muffins...choc chip, blueberry, banana nut, any of those.  I haven't had a muffin now in over 7 months, and every morning when I walk by Au Bon Pain on my way to work it just kills me,  I WANT A MUFFIN!!!!

So today I thought, ok why can't I get one and just have a couple bites...so I bought me a choc chip muffin, took two bites and threw it in the trash....Man was it good!!!  Made me a little nauseous but not too bad.  Sometimes we/I just crave those things we used to eat all the time but can't anymore.  So moderation right!!

Good for you, Christy!!  That's what it's all about.  And I know it'll continue to be a learning process.

When there's something I REALLY want, I try to do the 3 bite rule - the first bite to tell you that it was as good as you wanted it to be, the second bite to confirm that the first bite was good and the third is your last bite.  Sounds weird, I know, but often, anything beyond the third bite is overkill!

Good for you Christy, give yourself the taste but don't eat the whole thing because then you'll be on the floor, moaning in pain.

I've had those hauntings from time to time too.  In fact, just last night.  My husband had a small piece of carrot cake he brought home from dinner out.  He really wanted it but was afraid to eat in front of me.  I told him it really was okay, but I just wanted a taste of the cream cheese frosting.  I took probably not even a half a teaspoon and let it lay on my tongue, savoring the taste.  Then I asked myself, "Is it really as fabulous as my craving made it out to be...that I just had to have it?"  You know what?  NOPE!  It was good, don't get me wrong, but sometimes those freaking cravings make you think you'll die if you don't have it.  I really find what I do helpful most of the time in keeping me from having more.  I had it happen about a month ago too with a Dairy Queen Blizzard (used to be my absolute downfall and became a regular food).  I tasted it and the first thing my tongue/mind recognized was the slimy feeling of fat.  Didn't want any more of it.

Now a fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie.....that's an entirely different story!

HI I havent spent enought time over here on the MD boards...I need to do that.

I learned this recipe from WW. They are AWESOME!

Pumpkin Spice Muffins

1 med can pumpkin
1 box spice cake mix
Mix until 'batter'

THATS IT!!

Personally, I add a little cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla

spoon into muffin cups and bake at 325 for about 30 mins. Note that the muffins dont rise or anything...so try to put them in the cups so they look pretty.

For a little extra UMPH...I have topped these with butterscotch chips and pecans. When I make these they do not last long AT  ALL.

Hi Mary!!!

I remember these WW muffins - they were SOOOO moist!!  And you could actually use ANY flavor cake mix with the pumpkin - it's divine with devil's food cake mix.

HOWEVER, RNY folks still need to be on alert for the sugars that are ALREADY in the cake mix, even if you don't add anything extra.

Thanks again!  Good to see you, btw!!!
