Help!! Support Groups?!
Hi Everyone! I am a new member to OH. I am almost 6 years post-op (07/10/2003) and am going whacky!! I feel like I desperately need a support group, so I'm trying to find one in the Southern Maryland area.
I have lost 150 lbs. and have "yo-yo"ed up and down a little (a lot?) as a result of stress, fertility treatments, anemia, the list goes on.... Since my surgery, I have not had time to focus on "me" and feel like I'm completely LOST. I absolutely do not know who "I" am. (If that makes ANY sense at all!?!?). I honestly did not make the WLS connection until I was watching TrueLife on MTV last night and the girl was going through the EXACT same thing I am going through -- a psychologist recommended WLS support groups, so that's where I'm going to start. Any help would sincerely be appreciated. I look forward to developing many, many new friends on this Message Board!

I have never been to this one so I don't know if it still exists, these week night meetings just don't work for me, best of luck.

Gastric Bypass Mutual Support Group
Location: 22188 Three Notch Rd, Lexington Park, MD, Next to the MuseumDate: 4/1/2009
Time: 6 PM
Duration: 01:30
The Gastric Bypass Mutual Support Group discusses issues such as emotional eating and eating and exercise habit building. The group has experience from many different sources as well as the 3 main Bariatric Centers of Excellence in the D.C./Baltimore area. Attending a support group is important because you will have a lot of questions that you need answered before you have the surgery and afterwards that only patients can answer. We share celebrations as well as problem areas as we take this journey together. Family members/friends are welcome to learn how to better support. The mutual support group meets every Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:30.
