Were you inpatient or outpatient?

Those of you who had surgery with the St. Agnes docs. I went to a preop class today and she said that all of their patients were inpatient unless we were specifically told. She said that as long as your insurance covers it you will stay overnight. This was news to me as I thought Dr. Singh had said I would go home. He did say Marty would stay due to his sleep apnea. Maybe he was mistaken? So what insurance do you have and did you stay or go home?

I have the State of Maryland employees insurance with Carefirst Blue Cross Blue Shield.  I stayed over night.

Some Cigna and cash paying customers are outpatient, if I remember correctly.

Mellie -

I have/had Blue Choice, Care First's HMO.  I stayed - two nights.  I think a lot of patients now stay 23 hours, which is really one night, but says something different in "insurance language."

Call Dr. Singh's office for clarification.

How's the liquid diet going for Marty?

Ok. We have Carefirst Bluechoice through the State of Maryland. We have to go see him Friday for preop so I will just ask then to be sure.  Thanks guys.

Tia, he's cranky. very cranky. BUT he thought he only needed 1 protein drink a day and I kept telling him no at least 3, he finally looked at the paperwork and believed me. He has had a few protein dinners and cheated a little. His stomach is cramping really bad though.

That's who I have, and I'd almost bet that you'll stay, "23 hours."

I'm glad Marty decided to finally listen to you!!  LOL!!!  What's the sugar content in his protein drinks?  That COULD account for the cramps.

I get the EAS Carb Control - it only has 1 or 2 g of net carbs.  The regular EAS has at least 10 or 12 g of carbs....I like the ready to drink kind - I'm afraid to buy the bag and become a mad scientist trying to match the delicious flavor of the ready to drink kind.

Good luck!

I use the same ones Candy does.  Just keep an eye on him and call the doctor - could be a stomach flu if Marty develops any other symptoms.

Tia, no other symptoms at all. The cramping only started since starting the fluids. Come to think of it though he's eating a lot of SF jello and pudding. Wonder if thats doing it.
