OT - anybody know about GPS's?
I have the TOM TOM One and I love it. My mother-in-law has the Garmin so my husband has experienced both. He much prefers the TOM TOM. For example, he was using the Garmin this past weekend and it took him a really convoluted way home from Central VA. He would have just gone the way he knew but figured the GPS would give him a better route...NOT! I personally have no experience with the Garmin so this is just his opinion.
I bought my husband the Garmin Nuvi 600 a few years ago. He travels all over the country and was constantly calling me to get him back on track as the Yahoo maps were always wrong. IT LITERALLY SAVED OUR MARRIAGE! He would get so pissed off and blow off the steam, not directed to me, but I always had to hear it nonethless....felt like it was directed at me.
My Murano had a built-in when I bought it and we hate it after using Garmin's touch screen. I bought myself a Nuvi 660 last year. Looks goofy having a permanent and portable GPS in my vehicle, but I do love our Garmins!

HAted the TOM TOM last month when we drove to Savannah. It kept telling off o get off the damn highway. It sort of soured me from getting my husband one. The only thing it helped us to was get back to the house we were staying out when we were cycling - it was funny to hear Jimmy's cycling jersey talking (hehe)..Why would GARMIN be different. Don't they both use the same satellite out there floating in space?
