3 THINGS FOR THURSDAY!

Good morning!!  BRRRR!!!  And that's a carry-over from last night!  Softball didn't get canceled and O M G was I a popsicle!  It was actually a pretty poor game - the girls just didn't have any oomph - although we were winning for a while, we pretty much handed our butts to the other team and ended up losing 16-10.  I have to laugh, though, because even though some of these girls act so worldly and sophisticated, once they get out on the field, they're intrigued and distracted easily.  It's like, "Wow!!  She hit that and it's coming right toward me!!  Oh, look!!!  A puppy!!!"  LMAO!!!  Some others were out there, twirling in circles, the runners on base and the basemen are yakking it up, nobody's listening to the coach when he says, "Run!" and on and on and on!  Many of the girls (on both teams) had never played before and have nary a clue - several times, the umpire would call, "Ball four!" and we'd have to yell to them to drop the bat and take first base!!  It's often like a Chinese fire drill!!  But I have to hand it to my brother - I've watched some of the other coaches - they yell at their girls and get ticked at them - my brother finds SOMETHING encouraging to say to each girl, be it, "Good swing!  Nice throw!  Way to back her up!" which I think is SO important.  A lot of times, kids are playing a sport not because THEY want to, but because their parents want them to - which I think is wrong.  Okay, off my soapbox!

Today, I'm grateful for:

1.  Starbucks - Last night, I was frozen, so I treated myself to a latte.  I couldn't figure out WHY I was so wired at 10:30, but then.....DUH!!!  But it was yummy!!!

2.  That KB are still grateful for things - even the necessities in their life.  They thanked us for dinner last night from McDonald's (game night food), and when K and I were in Target, she mentioned she needed socks because, "Daddy apparently eats them!" so I bought her a pack of white socks and when I noticed her eyeing up some funky colored ones, I threw them in, too.
She thanked me and said, "Are you sure, Tia?  I know money is tight!"  I mean, how many kids would thank you for SOCKS, for God's sake?

3.  For my Dad playing chauffeur - Even though he makes me NUTS a lot of the time, Dad DOES make mine and Gary's lives easier by ferrying the kids to us sometimes, cutting down on our need to run halfway around the world to make things happen in their lives!  I don't know what we'd do if Dad wasn't retired!

4.  For emails that make me giggle and/or snort!!!

Okay, everybody, have a great day!!

Good Morning:

I know KB appreciate you Tia:  and its nice they say Thanks!!!

Today I am grateful for:

1.  Knowing I made someones day yesterday!  The girl we had the shower for
Thanked me about 100 times LOL  I didn't do it alone but others told her I spearheaded
the whole thing and I swear I feel so good about making her and her husbands day.
We collected enough for her to get the bedding for the babys room :  I knew babies
were expensive but I really saw it yesterday while wondering around Babies R Us.
I'm glad we have a part in the babys room!

2.  Again sigh for learning the hard way my pouch still works:  I knew it would be a
mistake but that Strawberry shortcake  shower cake called my name and like
10 minutes later I knew I had to get home QUICK!  I missed the last game but
its OK :  Like I said I'm glad to know the pouch works even though at times my BRAIN
doesn't.

3.  that I am 2 weeks away from my gyn appt.  and Yes I'm going to do a daily
countdown !!!!

Morning Darla!!

Yes, KB DO appreciate me!!  It makes me even more happy to do things for them!

I'm SO glad your shower went off well!  You have a good heart, and I know it makes YOU feel good to make others happy.  Baby stuff is WAAAAY expensive - just another of the 1000 reasons I'm glad I don't have any!!!!

Maybe you need to do the 3 bite rule (if you can), when it comes to the good/bad stuff - The first bite to tell you that the cake is as good as it looks, the second bite to confirm how good the first was and the third bite is your last bite!!  Hopefully, this will give you the taste you want while avoiding dumping.  Think about it - after the first couple of bites, are we REALLY tasting it, anyway?  Just something to try next time.

Hugs,
T

BELIEVE me, I get it.  But to continue eating to the point that you pay for it later is BAD!!!!

Good Morning Everyone,

Well today is the beginning of an interesting stretch at work for me. My co-worker in India is now out until May 11th. That means I get to hold down the fort by myself and there are a lot of things due during this timeframe. The good part is that I don't have to worry about the early AM and late PM activity that I have to do everyday to coordinate with India. That part will feel like a break.

I am feeling really frustrated with myself these days. I have slipped into some bad habits and I am having a hard time breaking them - primarily evening eating. I am trying one more thing before I call Ranesa. I am trying to replicate the eating process from the very beginning as though I just had surgery. I am starting with fluids only and will build back up from there. I am also following a strict schedule. My fingers are crossed.

Tia, I had to smile as I read your description of the game last night. I so miss those days when I used to go to my oldest nephew's games. It was similar. That commercial with the boy in the outfield daydreaming until all of a sudden he realizes a ball is coming to him comes to mind - one of my favorites.

The relationship you have with KB is very special. And as someone who has experienced the same with my oldest nephew (now 27 years old), I can say with confidence that they will always remember everything you have done for them and cherish you in their lives. Of course, what they give us is priceless as well.

Darla, I am so glad the shower went well. There is nothing like the feeling of being able to bring joy to others.

Nessa, Hang in there. Things can always be worse. Hope things turn around for you soon!

Today, I am grateful for...

1 - The fact that I did not put my Winter clothes away yet. I am wearing my corduroy jacket today.

2 - That I remembered to bring alternate gym clothes in case it storms tonight. This way if the pool classes are scheduled I can at least work out. I would much prefer the pool, but at least I won't waste the trip this way.

3 - It's pay day - always a good thing!

4 - For my family and friends!

Have a terrific day!

Deb -

I WISH I could offer some words of advice beyond what you've already said, but all I can offer is empathy.  I STILL wish someone could tell me WHY we do this to ourselves.  Just do your best, concentrate on taking care of yourself and getting enough rest during this stressful time at work, and hopefully, it'll all come together.

The softball girls are still young enough that they're easily distracted by simple things like a butterfly or a worm......but "old" enough that we have to remind them that cell phones and Ipods should be left on the bench!!  LOL!!!

Part of me is so eager to watch KB grow and experience things, and part of me wants them to stay exactly as they are now.  It seems like just yesterday K was telling me that a baby seat had been installed in their car for her new baby brother.  SIGH.

My pay day, too!!!  Enjoy the gym tonight - sounds like you'll need the stress-relief!

Hugs,

Tia

Nessa - We miss you, too, and I'll be happy to supply your 3 things for today:

1.  That you and Brian made the decision to be healthier and happier.  No one said the journey wasn't involved and sometimes frustrating, but ultimately, you're doing a good thing!

2.  Harley

3.  Hannah

See?  That wasn't so tough!!!

Hugs to ya!  We need to do a lunch again when everyone's head is above water.  Next week works for me - the following, not so much.
