Dr. Li was my surgeon she wants you to loose the pds before the surgery to help shrink your liver. The smaller liver will help her maneuver easier.

My game plan was to get myself used to eating as if I already had the surgery; protein shakes, crystal light etc.

I hope this helps!

Hello, I agree I am trying to lose as much weight as I can before I even attempt surgery of any kind. I went to a nut and am on her food plan. I am not eating breads, pastas or sugars.  I have lost about 20 pounds in total. I would try to adapt to the eating plan you will have after surgery. It might be easier for you. I also know that I have spoke to many people who did not lose much weight at all. My PCP told me she has many patients who dont lose any weight prior to WLS. I think I would try to talk to my doc or their nut for xtra help or advice. We are always here for you too... Just my thoughts hope it helps..

My only suggestion would be drink a lot of water ( I add crystal lite to mine)
It will keep you full and clense the body at the same time :  this is usually
good for 4-5 lbs.

Go to a liquid protein diet.  I used Slimfast right before my surgery and it does take a lot of willpower, but if you want to be successful, you've got to do what it takes.

My pre-op diet consisted of:

Atkins or other low-carb, high protein drink for breakfast

Weigh****chers, Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice meal and salad/or veggies for lunch

High protein dinner, again with salad or veggies for dinner

If I felt the need to snack, it was suggested that I do almonds or string cheese, and if I wanted sweets, I ate s/f popsicles

LOTS of water, too!

Hope this helps,

Tia
