Saturday Quarter Auction
Mellie,
A quarter auction is where various vendors get together to auction off their merchandise.
When you get there, you'll pay $3 for your paddle with a number on it. (Let's say it's 117) ...
For any item you wish to bid on, once the item is shown... they will tell you the value of the auction; from $15- $100. For each $25 of value, it's a Quarter to bid on it. Therefore, if the item is valued at $42, it would be a 2 Quarter bid.
If you decide to bid on the item, there are buckets or bowls on the table, and you put your 2 quarters in the bucket. A runner will come by and take the money and then you hold your paddle up in the air.
The MC will then pull numbered balls or chips from a container and if your number is called (and you placed a bid) you win the item for only 50cents!
There are over 100 items to bid on. This is like a new-age bingo. It's fun and also will help support my cause of the Relay for Life.
If you have any other questions. feel free to ask.
