What would you say to a coworker?

Ok so yesterday I told Marty about his surgery date being 3 weeks away and his eyes got as big as saucers! After the initial shock he was thrilled to finally be getting the band.

Anyway, he's a supervisor where he works and so he informed his boss that he was going to be going out for surgery and the date and so on. Since he's the only supervisor on his shift they will have to use the "lead man" to cover him, so he also informed this person last night that he would be going on leave, however, he did not inform anyone what he was having done. He's not embarrassed but he says it is his business and no one else's and he doesn't like them knowing anything about his personal life. So anyway, after several hours I guess word got around to the mechanics and one of them approached him last night and asked him what he was having done. He told the guy he was just having some surgery and to leave it at that. Well the guy wouldn't stop so finally told him that he was having a certain body part shortened because it was too long and asked him if he wanted the leftover piece Then the guy started badgering him about it and saying I bet you're having gastric bypass. Marty said no im not and its none of your business. So then the guy started saying things like well I guess we will find out if you start losing  a lot of weight. It kind of irritated him but he pretty much just ignored the guy and told him yeah I guess we will see.

So what do you think? Did he handle it right or should he have said something else to him? Sorry for the long post.

people are aholes. he has a right not to tell people if he does not want to. it is his body. he was right in how he handled it. i might even complain bout the guy badgering him. though that might be against bro code lol

I think he handled it just fine. It is nobody's businesss what he is having done. I think they are jealous!!!

Tough call!  I think he handled it properly, especially love his comment about having a certain body party shortened..... that cracked me up.

It doesn't shock me from him. He thought that might shut the guy up but it didn't.

I think he handled it well.  It is nobodys business and it's his decision on whether or not he wants to discuss it.  UGH...people like that guy really **** me off!  I loved his comment though!  LOL!

I think your hubby did fine but he should have said f off you moron... This is a personal thing and no ones business....People are just so damn nosy...Give your hubby a hug he needs it.....
