Well actually 13 days.... Doing better now.  Most things are going well but here are a few that perhaps you guys have suggestions for:

Not getting close to my protein counts.  I am doing fine with my pureed foods albeit getting kinda tired of them already.   I am having a hard time finding a protein supplement I like.

The doc gave me the iron supplement to take.  It is a capsule and I still have to cut up the other pills I take.  I suppose I have to wait to start them until i can swallow whole pills.

I am getting in my vitamin and calcium and doing fairly well on the water.

Try crushing up your meds in an ISOPURE drink.  I know they are not great, but you have to take the meds, so you might as well get in some protein at the same time.

Melissa,

I don't think anyone gets all of their protein in for the first few weeks or so.  But I'll agree with Lisa on those isopure drinks.  40g protein in 20 oz. of fluid saved me in the beginning.  As I got further out and could eat a little bit more, I stopped drinking them in favor of eating my protein grams.

Hope that helps,
Heather

at this point in the game, until you continue to heal in which protein will help you, concentrate more on getting your fluids in.  there's nothing worse than being dehydrated.  I concentrated on my protein my first two weeks after surgery and neglected my fluids and I was dehydrated the whole time......i was miserable!  when you're further out, you'll be able to handle vast quantities of both but for now, work on your fluids.
