Update
My dad is home from the hospital and is doing really well. He and mom spent the day after he got home out at doctor's appointments and shopping. Everything is cleared up. He is still very bruised, swollen and tired but he is expected to make a full recover.
Sorry I had been gone so long and thanks for all the support. :)
I had my 3 month follow up appointment yesterday. My doctor says that I will end up at 165. I guess this is good. I am 5 ft 6 and my wrist bone is huge. It's about 8 inches (and it's not fat!). At my first appointment, the nut said i should weight 150. I was thinking that 150 would be skeletal on me. 165 puts my BMI still in the overweight range. :( What is your opinion?

Good Morning, Glad to hear good news about your dad... No problem for the support we are always here... Great news from your doc..I think you should be happy and comfortable with what feels good for you. Your doc maybe right but he is not in your body..What do you think you should be at? You are very tall and if 165 isnt good for you I think you will know. How do you feel?

glad to hear dad is going to be ok... how scary. DH had a bus accident a year ago he had the seat belt bruise for months...
as for your weight... I would truly bemoan any human who could tell me to the pound what i was going to weigh. that to me is BS.
I am 5'2" (i used to be 5'4") and i am muscular and heavily boned. at 160 i wear a true size 8 (back before vanity sizing took hold) and you can see my bones. If you want to weigh 165 and are comfortable with that then enjoy it.
BTW our doctor says that HIS GOAL for his patients is not to be skinny. he would like us all with a BMI of 25-30 which is overweight on the charts. he says the charts are too low.

I wish you continued success and if I can get down to 165 lbs I would be very happy. I stand 5 feet and 5 and 1/2 inches tall and curently weight in at 268.
it's basically size inflation. here's a wikipedia explanation
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanity_sizing
what is NOW an 8 used to be a 10 or 12 maybe and that means that a 4 or 6 used to be an 8
