It is beautiful here in York today as well!

Nice, sunny and about 60... Just below the perfect temp for me!

It has been a pretty quiet weekend so far here.  Short trip to Walmart, Rite Aid and a drive to get my mom a doughnut... ROFL.  The good news is, I wasn't even jealous of her doughnut, or the fast food they had for lunch!  I do have an appetite again, which is good in a way, but I am able to make better choices now!

Today's food count has been a scrambled egg and a piece of toast for breakfast, veggie soup for lunch, and so far about 40 oz of liquid and half my vits...

Hope the NYC crew is having a good time!  They are in my thoughts today, hoping some of this good weather is moving North to them!

The day here has been perfect! I am glad to finally see a true spring day! I also hope the weather followed the group to NYC......Tia's last weather report wasnt to pleasant sounding!
Well, my food count today was ok..... I am still pre-op, but I am trying!
Breakfast: 1 container greek yogurt with some granola thrown in
Lunch: a veggie sub minus the bread with 1/2 tsp. of fat free mayo
Dinner: tossed salad {lettuce, tomato, onion, cukes, and carrots} with  1 tbsp. of dried cranberries, 1/4 cup diced chicken, and 1 tbsp. fat free dressing
     all my water
I guess its not too bad.
I also went to GNC & bought some of the Isopure plus in the apple melon flavor....... I am doing one new thing each weekend until my surgery. Last weekend it was tofu, this weekend its the Isopure. It wasnt bad, basically like watered down kool aid!
Congrats on your surgery & I am glad all is going well! Any regrets thus far? Any suggestions for someone getting surgery?

Today's food went slightly down hill *grins* I made beef stew for dinner and ate some.  I took mine out before I added "flour" to thicken it, so I guess mine was more of a veggie soup, but it had potatos in it, and I did eat them!  But I decided since I am only eating about 1/2 cup of it, they were not gonna be toooo bad, and they stayed down with no problems!  No queasy feeling today!

Only about another 5 oz of fluid, so might not quiet make it today... still drinking though, and will go get another vit now, to be done with just needing one more tonight before bed!

I bought the Isopure drinks and haven't tried one yet, going to do that after another 20 min so to stick with the not eating and drinking at the same time rule... That will make sure i get my protein in if nothing else!

For me the advice I did not heed before surgery that i should have is, DO NOT BUY IN BULK!  I hate all of the protein I bought except the Nectar Fuzzy Navel - which I hated pre-op, but was to lazy to return!  I have two chicken soup Unjury, a vanilla unjury and a strawberry and chocolate that were bought for me from Walmart, and haven't been able to stomach more than a swallow of any of them since coming home after surgery.

New advice from me... Routine has to change, get over it.... I am soo used to driving through McD or somewhere on the way to work, that I can't get used to eating before we leave in the mornings...  And the things like eating every 4 hours need to be planned ahead - so be prepared to take stuff to work, school and anywhere else you plan on being!  Luckily my work crew are very supportive and I am able to stop and do what I need to, when I need to!

I do know if I don't eat on time some of the time the first two weeks I got very queasy... Now once I eat after getting up in the mornings that has gotten better.  I do take the reglan (I think most dr's prescribe it after surgery) before I go to bed at night, and that has helped with that.  Today I did not eat after lunch (1pm) until about 7pm and I wasn't sick feeling at all... I was out and about shopping and it just didn't occur to me - but that is not really a good thing apparently!

The thing that sucks the most in my opinion...  Everyone is different when it comes to eating new foods and what worked for someone may or may not work for you... so advice doesn't mean you can or can't have something... so far nothing has not worked for me since my first week after surgery, and then it was just too soon I think!

One new thing for me today is my parents brought me a food scale... I have been "thinking" I was eating 2 oz of cheese with my eggs in the mornings to discover it can't be since I have had the same shredded cheese bag for about 10 days and it is half full - and it is an 8 oz bag...  :( My judgement is off!  My mom solved that when she bought me the scale...  It is scary how easily impressed I am right now!

Wow....thanx! Most of it I have heard, but hearing it again is not a bad thing! I have not bought anything in bulk, except for the Wylers & WalMart brand drink mixes.....and thats only because where I live, they can be hard to find. I have ordered some samples of the Unjury protein.....the unflavored, chicken broth, vanilla, and chocolate.....I have experimented with most of them & pre-op, they arent too bad. I only bought 2 bottles of the isopure today, which I have tried. The apple melon was good, but the alpine punch was great! They do taste watered down but hey, its the protein I am looking at! I already have purchased a food scale, so I am safe there. I read that a blender isnt ideal, so I have ordered a magic bullet, which I have seen most people rave about.  Question....... have you tried any of the "protein shots"? I looked at them today at GNC, and the girl there was trying to sell me them. Apparently her dad had WLS, and thats what he used; I have also read on here where people have used them. Doesnt sound too bad.....3 oz. with 40g. of protein?!?!?!?!
I am soooo ready to hear back from my insurance company & to get a date! I am excited & scared all at the same time! But, it will be my turn soon enough! Thanx so much for all the info!

I did alpine punch tonight as well, strangely enough, Thursday when I bought Isopure, I bought two bottles as well, and the other one I bought was apple melon! I haven't tired it yet...  I drank half a bottle for 20g of protein...  I am getting at least 30 from food most days, so half a bottle is my goal - also gives me at least 10 oz of fluid...  I don't know why, but some one her report the bullets are not good because of the type of protein... maybe one of our more knowledgable WLS experts here will shed some light for us on that... My thoughts are that my shake/drink might as well give me both protein and the fluid for max benefits!

I bought a $20 "blender" like thing from Avon... It looks just like the magic bullet and I used it over and over during the first two weeks after surgery... haven't touched it this week, but the Nectar shakes blend well in my shaker, and that is what I have been using.  Preop I used it alot for vanilla unjury with frozen berries and milk.  Post Op my first day home a vanilla and milk protein shake gave me issues, and I haven't tried that one again yet since I have taken a drink once and dumped one...

The one big thing I am having big problems with is sleeping.  Last night was the first time I have slept more than 3-4 hours at a time without having taken a pain pill or tylenol PM (surgeon's nurse suggested this to me when I called after my first week home...) since I stopped using the pain pump in the hospital.  This was definately not a problem preop! I used to be able to sleep from 11pm Friday night until 9 or so on Saturday and still take a 2-3 hour nap on Saturday afternoon!  Last night I went to bed at midnight and did sleep until 7am, so maybe it is getting easier to move and sleep!  This was NOT something I expected, but having more energy during he day is something I am enjoying!

Hey Angie!  Where are you in York?  My parents are in the Hillcrest neighborhood off Queen Street.  We should be moving up there sometime this year!

Revised to VSG (6/11/09) weighing 253...

I live farther North than they do...  We are off of Rt. 30 in West York, which is Exit 21B from 83.  We have been up year for over 4 years now :)
