I'm 3yrs. post op (RNY) , 55 yrs. old and due for all the lovely testing that most women are required to do at this age. Has anyone ever had trouble preparing for the colonoscomy?

I had 2 colonoscopies in 2007. The worst part is drinking the stuff the day before in order to clean out the plumbing! The test itself was no problem at all. I agonized about it a lot more than I needed to.

Wishing you all the best!

Debbie

Hello I have not had one yet but I guess thats in my future.. My GF had one done and din not want to drink that crap so her doc did some kind of pills. You take alot of them but no drinking that gunk. I also heard of a pill you swallow that is a camera.. I dont know much about that though...My mom has had 6 of them since they thought her cancer had spread and she had no trouble......Good Luck.....

I had one about a year ago & I must say  the getting prepared is the worst. Normally, you just drink the not so pleasant drink that will get you moving {no pun intended!}. For me, that didnt work! SO I had to drink more of that stuff PLUS take laxatives every hour!
Getting past the cleaning out stage is the worst......everything else is gravy!
Good luck!

I had a couple of colonoscopies while I was still pre-op, one in 2002, and another in September 2003 prior to my March 2004 RNY.   I've had one post op (in October 2006) and I just reminded my gastro-dr that I was an RNY patient but it wasn't an issue.   The prep for the last one was pills not drinking gunk, and I thought it would not be as effective, but trust me .. it worked !!!

Good luck with it.

Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!
