Hello Everyone! I am 29 and from central Maryland. I have been battling my weight most of my life; even more since 1997 when I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism - Hashimoto's Disease. I had thought about WLS for a while and recently my PCP brought up surgery. I was elated because I never knew how to bring the subject of surgery up. I agreed to meet with my PCP 2 months later and continue from there. Last week I attended a seminar for Dr. Kligman of Univeristy of MD; I have decided to meet with him. I have an appointment schedule for 4/6.
My BMI is 53 and I am the highest I have ever been. I can loose 20 to 30 lbs with commitment but have never been able to go any further!

Hey Kim:
I too had Hashimoto's Thyroiditis before my surgery and I am a patient of Dr. K's. He is great. I had my surgery last May 20th and I'm down about 125 lbs. It has been a life saver. Welcome to the MD board and let us know if you have any questions. We're here for support. You'll find several of us have used Dr. K; Aaron and Jilly also.
