Tanya, Welcome to the Maryland board and congrats on your soon to be position on the Loser's Bench!  Everyone has had such great advice I have none other than to tell you that the folks on the 6th floor at JH's were awesome to me and they will be to you.  I can't say enough good things about the 3 days I was there.  I don't think the lights in my room were ever over a dimming and people apologized when they had to wake me up, unheard of.

Hi Mari!

I have heard mixed reviews about the hospital stay at Bayview. I will definitely be crossing my fingers for an experience a lot like yours...lol

Thanks for the welcome!

Hey Tanya-

I haven't had surgery yet- so I won't be of much help!  But, I saw that your surgeon is Ann Lidor- She is fabulous!  I had my gallbladder removed by her and she is very down to earth and just overall great!  I just wanted to confirm that you are in good hands :)

Actually, I started this process with Dr. Steele as my surgeon. However, because she will be on maternity leave all of May and June I switched to Dr. Lidor so I can have surgery sooner than later. I was very pleased when we met. I thought I was in good hands...it's nice to know someone else can validate that thought.

Best of luck to you!

Tanya

hey Tanya, welcome and good luck.

Pretty much everything's been said already :-)

I bought way too much of sugar free popsicles and hated them after the surgery so had to throw them out.

Get a wedge pillow for yourself. Getting in and out of bed will be so much easier. I couldn't sleep flat when I first got out and getting up afetr latying down flat was painful.

Where are you having the surgery?

I use a protein powder from Global Health called ProCel, it's pretty much odorless and tasteless. It's only 6 gms of protein per serving but I put it in my water bottles so I get the liquid and the protein.

Good luck with everything!
