How...............

I started out wanting an RNY. But after seeing Dr. S, we both decided that the VSG is the way to go for me. I have other medical conditions, and the malabsorption of vitamins would be a BAD thing for me. I have hypoparathyroidism, which means my body does not absorb calcium on its own. I take a prescription form of the synthetic parathyroid hormone and 5000IU of Vitamin D daily.  I can really feel it if my levels are low. The side effects are awful.  This is BEFORE any kind of WLS. In fact, I've had this problem since I was 6 years old. Doctors never could figure out why, because it is a very rare thing. Anyway, we didn't want to risk complications with the hypoparathyroidism.  At first I was really disappointed because I had my heart set on RNY. But the more I research VSG, the happier I am.  Now I just need to get done with all the pre-op stuff and get approved!
