so i was talkin to my Aun this past week when my Aunt and Uncle came to visit and i finally told them about me in the process of WLS i told them her i was gonna have the gastric bypass hoepfully no later then mid August!!!

anyhow i was tellin her about how i dinrk 100oz of water a day and its really helpin me with my weight loss before surgery and i even told her that most days i drink more than 100oz!!  well she replied with "be careful with how much water you drink b/c you can DIE from drinkin to much water" IS THAT TRUE???? if so how much water is to much?? i drink about 150oz of water a day!! am i over doing it??? what is the limit????

Wow I have not heard of this but my nut has me drinking 100oz daily. I hope I wont die. I go to my nut on Wed. I will find out. If you find any more info please let me know...

Yes that is true, I am not for sure how much water you can consume before it become dangerous, remember the lady in the water drinking contest ?

Please see the attached article. While it is possible, it is unlikely given the way that we consume it over time. I would not stop working on keeping the fluid volumes up.

thanks debbie!!! i read the article!!! it does say to drink eight 12oz glasses a day but the equals to be 96 oz of water a day!! but i drink more than that!!! but then again like the article says i drink it through out the day and not all at one time!

Part of the problem with wls is that EVERYONE has bad things to say, and you'll find that THOSE people are just repeating hearsay. 

Trust me, if anyone were going to die from excessive water consumption, I'd be the first to go.

I think the problem comes from drinking it all at once, not, as you noted, spread out over time.

Don't let the naysayers and the uneducated scare you away.  If in doubt, call DVR's office - they're great about allaying any fears you might have.

I have heard of someone having problems with too much water only ONCE.  This was when 98rock did a contest to see who could drink so much water without going potty. I think the "not going potty" part was the harmful part of the equation!
