OK people I have a question. I am 6 weeks out from surgery and I am eating and sipping according to my doctors schedule. This is the issue food is always on mind! I mean ALWAYS.

Any advice? I like the weight loss and how I look and feel in my new body. I donut want to go back!

"I donut want to go back"... Yep, I'd say FOOD is on your mind! LOL

I'm worried about this after WLS too. Whenever I go on a diet, I obsess about food. I don't know how to get over that mental hurdle.

Thank you ladies so much! It is good to see I am not the only one going through this issue! It is not easy battling the weight demons!

Okay, I have to be different here.  At almost 4 years post-op, I STILL always think of food.

But differently!!!

Think about it.  I remember a support group meeting at GBMC; DVR had a therapist or someone come in to speak about food addictions.  They talked about how you need to train yourself to NOT think about food.  But.....I had a question.....since we, as wls post-ops, are supposed to be conscious of EVERY SINGLE THING WE PUT IN OUR MOUTHS, particularly as it relates to protein, etc., how are you NOT going to think about it???  You know what?  HE COULDN'T ANSWER ME.

I think the trick is to just think about it differently.  When I have that figured out, I'll let you know.

It helps to write things down - what you're feeling when you want to eat something you're not supposed to, what you actually did to avoid eating the questionable food, what you actually ate, how it made you feel afterward, etc.

Keep in mind that they operated on our stomachs, NOT our brains.  It gets better, I promise.  Does it ever go away?  Hmmmmm...............................................

Yeah, I know, clear as mud.
