Advice needed about exercise..
Hello I am curious how I can start to exercise at home without going to a gym. I need to start someplace and have 3 herniated dics that play H**l with me back. Any clue on what I could try and no I dont mean housework I already do that dirty job... I have looked into water areobics and have been told its not good for bad backs. I always thought the water classes were good for the back since its less stress on the back. Correct me if I am wrong...

I, too, have always ASSUMED tha****er aerobics were perfect for anyone with any type of limitations. Check with your PCP or a chiropractor, maybe?
I THINK there are a series of exercises you can do from a chair - maybe if you Google it or go to the library, you could find it.
Leslie Sansone also does a series of "Walk Away the Pounds" DVD's - these are great and range from mild to exhausting.

I agree with Tia! The only thing I would add is that when I have taken any water classes, the instructors have always asked what concerns / limitations you have and have worked around that and/or emphasized the things that are best given your cir****tances. I know I have seen some one-on-one sessions where they take people into the deep water (with floatation belts, noodles, etc - so you won't sink) and demonstrated exercises and stretches specifically aimed at the back. I agree, you may want to seek some professional guidance.

Thanks Tia I am hoping if I start someplace it will help me drop a few more pounds. I am going to call PCP and ask her again. I asked last time and she said water classes are fine. I have a yoga tape for big gals that I have been attempting but its so hard on my crappy back..... I am hpoing to go to the Crofton meeting Monday the 30th and I will go early sice its held at the library... I am so nervous about going to the meeting. Kelly is nice but I am so nervous. I think maybe its because I am scared of being judged. I know it sound crazy but I cant help it....Thanks,

I hope you got my email this morning about group reminder and also that My Personal trainer and I are planning another meting at his gym in Crofton, you may have heard of it Fitness Matters Gym. It is behind the nautilus. The Buildings where edible arrangments is but all the way at the end. He is going to show some excercises he does with us and things you can do at home if you can not afford a gym membership. He is AWSOME and anyone who goes to him will tell you so.
I will keep you posted on the date. It will be wednesday in the beggining of April

As Deb said I have seen trainers at the MAC giving specific advice on exercises
for the back in the pool - I know you said your husband belongs to a gym - do they have a pool?
If so why not talk to a trainer there? As far as exercises at home Tia gave some good advice.
IN fact I think I have those Walk away the Lbs. tapes at home - If I do you are welcome to them - I just need to find them LOL

I belong to Planet Fitness in Glen Burnie and they have no Pool. I called several places and am hoping to get a packet from them soon.... If you have the tapes I would be willing to buy them from you. I have dvd player but no vcr any more.... Thanks for your advice I hope your day is better today...
