my only hope is to ask DVR to use the PP anesthesioloist available at St.Agnes.

otherwise we will pay about 800 for that!  we will pay about 3k for surgery each too.

i figure when all is said and done it's going to run me about 10k for both of us to have this surgery.

I personally don't have a problem with that.

Where does DVR operate - St. Agnes?  OK, so you have specific anesthesiologists at St. Agnes on your insurance - correct?  True, these docs like to work with who they like to work with but I can't imagine that he won't agree to work with the anes. that your insurance covers.  DVR's office hasn't even presented this to your insurance yet...just give his insurance guru the heads up.  It won't be the first time he's had to deal with this - it won't be the last.
Chin up.

our insurance is weird.  the surgery is not pre-approved only the hospital stay is precert.

I will talk to the staff at the office and explain the problem and see if they can work within our limitations but ya know  I am not holding out a lot of hope that DVR is going to say  :"oh yeah sure, i'll NOT work with the aneth. I"m comfortable with so I can save you  a piddly $740 dollars."

if I was a doctor and I had a team I liked to work with, you better believe, I'd want to work with my team and not with an unknown entity.    there may be very good reasons why he does not work with the PP aneth.  who am I to tell him how to do HIS JOB?

I think I would rather know he was comfortable with who he works with and I have to pay something, anything - this is something life or death after all... a sucky ant. could make or break the surgery....

Money aside, waking up and feeling good is more important that anything! IMO...

Don't want to hope in your head but it will be fine.  There is more than one anesthesiologist at St. A that DVR will work with.  HE WILL WORK WITH YOU - and he'll be fine with whomever he works with.  Actually, when I've had surgery at St Joes where I work I not only pick my surgeon but my anesthesiologist too.  Without regards to who my surgeon likes best.  I mean, let's be real - we pick our surgeons based on their personality, expertise, experience - why shouldn't we pick our anesthesiologist too!
I have!

Well, she had to pay a couple hundred.  Everything was covered for her with the hospital. It was University of MD.

Nessa, I've had surgery before and received a bill from the anesteologist because insurance refused to pay as they were not in network, however, when I called insurance to explain that I went to an In network doctor and an in network hospital, that I had no choice of the anesteologist, they said that since the hospital was in network, they would pay the anestelogist. (SP?)  Is it possible you'd have the same situation? Have you run that scenario verbally with your insurance company?

nope that's NOT possible.  that is not what's going to happen.   they specifically address this in the explanation I posted.  just because a hospital is in network does NOT mean that all the doctors are.
