Maryland Goodwill

Wow...such variety. I've never been a thrift shop type of girl or even a sales rack kind of girl.  I HATE to search through things and would rather see something great on a mannequin or online and get that.  I just can't justify spending much money on things I'm not going to be wearing for long.  I've been hitting sales racks here and there but I'm thinking about checking out the Goodwill in Annapolis on Saturday.  We have a thrift shop and a couple of consignment shops out here on the Island but the hours are somewhat funky!  I'll report back on my experience.

THANKS!!!
Heather

Heather......
Is that consignment shop behind the old safeway still there? It was in a lil strip mall behind there........... I used to take my daughters there & they ALWAYS found very nice name brand stuff. Also, the one on the other side of Rt.50 next to the chocolate shop & gun shop...... they have very nice name brand clothing. My 16 year old found 12 American Eagle sweaters there { 9 of them still had original tags!}, 7 Hollister sweatshirts {3 of which were brand new}, and 5 pair of American Eagle jeans....... her total spent was only like $60....... given, yes for a thrift store is high, but given the brands & half of them being new, it was a steal!
Like I said, if you ever wanna go shopping, let me know! Have you been to the outlets in Rehobeth?

Yep, that consignment shop is there, I'm going to check it out.  The one next to the chocolate shop is now only Thrift Store/Food Pantry, the consignment part is gone.  There's at least one more near the new Safeway in a house but I'm not sure if it's consignment or thrift.  I've never been to the Rehobeth Outlets but we should do a MD Board outting there sometime!  I used to like the Outlets in Queenstown until the majority of the stores were no longer outlets!!

I have been to dozens of GW stores in MD and PA---but the ones I frequent the most are closest to home.  Selection and quality varies but I have found nice, name brand, sometimes with tag on at East Point, Carroll Island and Bel Air Stores. I used to think you had to go to a fancier  part of town's GW store to get the good stuff but have not found that to be true.  You just have to go often and enjoy looking thru all the racks---some stores have the clothing more organized by color etc than others.  95% of my clothes I wear come from GW!  I love shopping there- even 2+years post op and well into the maintain phase (ie size stays the same) :D

There are two Goodwill's in Frederick.  I shop both of them.  I seem to find better clothing at the one in downtown Frederick.  I bought a pair of Banana Republic jeans for $5, and a pair of Talbot's kakhi (sp) colored jean cut pants with the original tags for $3.  I can generally get Levi's for $4-5.

I love looking for pant's there.  On one shopping trip I believe I bought 5 pairs of pants for $21.  It was a great shopping day.

I highly recommend shopping at Goodwill or like stores especially while dropping weight.  I made the mistake of shopping at the mall when I reached a size 12 and bought a new wardrobe only to enjoy them for a couple of months.  I now am in a 6 sometimes a 4 and still shop at Goodwill.

OMG....I am sitting at work right now with pants and a top from thrift stores. I love them. I just got an invitation to a wedding in April and I was wondering what I would wear. Then I remember I purchased a navy blue dress from Talbot's at a thrift store and a pair of nany blue Naturalizer shoes from another one. The shoes have never been worn. Each piece was $4.00...tax free...as I bought them in Rehoboth.
I don't even like paying full price for things anymore. I am getting very thrifty in my older years. The hair dye I use once a month cost $8.99. I purchased 20 $3.00 off/1 for about $1.00 from ebay. Giant had them on sale this week for $7.99 and with my $3.00 off coupon I got them for $4.99. I bought enough to last me for 6 months plus bought my friend 2. I have 12 coupons left that expire 4/26/09 if anyone wants them. I am afraid to buy too many in advance because I don't know what the shelf life is. They are for L'OREAL Preference or Dream Blonde.

OH...don't get me started on thrift shopping.....I LOVE IT

Last Satruday of each month, clothing and shoes are 1/2 off.

Maybe we should all meetup for Godowill shopping one day :-)

It's right at the intersection of 175 and 1, with Panda Express and Starbucks.
