Lisa -

If YOU think you would benefit from therapy, by all means, find a good therapist.  It doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks.

I will tell you that even best therapist who's familiar with wls and all the issues associated with that, will tell you that it will take time for your head to catch up with your body.  How much time is hard to say - for some, it's ALWAYS an issue.

Perhaps tangible reminders are best - look frequently at before/after pics, take your measurements, look at older, bigger clothes.

This is exactly why we will always be works in progress!!!!

You've done an amazing job, and I am always happy to see your cute LITTLE face pop up here!!!

BTW, did you see Gail's post about a girls' weekend at the end of June at her place in Bethany?  There's still room for you!!!!!

Tia

Hello I am not in your shoes but think if you feel you need therapy go for it. I remember when I lost 100 lbs I felt the same way. It took me a while to get over the what I call the PFCS Past Fat Clothes Syndorome. I think you have done a great job and keep up the good work. Dont be so hard on yourself......

I guess I should chime in here since I have my degree in Clinical Psychology.  Everyone has given you some really good points.  In my field we feel that everyone can benefit from counseling.  It's a place where you are safe and secure and can talk about anything that is bothering you.  You won't just have to talk about your body image.  I'm sure you will talk about other things as well.  I will tell you that all Psychologists actually have their own weekly or bi-weekly appointment with other Psychologist.  They really are patients as well.

I hope I helped a little.  :)

Thanks so much.  I did do some therapy when I was younger because of an abusive step-father.  I think I will look into someone local.

I'm with Nessa  - I kept getting shocked at how big I really was when all this time I kept thinking I was a hot little cutie like I was back in high school.    (Yes Tia, I always loved Purple even back in 1990!)

Lisa,

You have already been given great thoughts and advice by the others. I will only add that I have seen someone periodically since WLS. For me, I found it invaluable to have that impartial but caring third party to help me sort through my concerns.

You truly have done a fabulous job! I admire you!

Candy,

Love the photo!!!

I'll have to dig my high school photo out and post it! I loved the contour of my neck at the time. It's one of the things that I missed the most when I gained weight.

I still owe you a call. Sunday was crazy for me, although you message about church made me laugh my a$$ off!

I'm going to a RFL meeting Tuesday the 17th in White Marsh at the ACS. Are you interested in attending with me?  It begins at 7:00 and ends by 8:30.

OMG!  You are just as beautiful as then!  You certainly age much more gracefully than I do!
