Therapy, yes or no?

I am having some issues.  I don't see myself as others see me.  I don't see myself any different than before WLS.  When I go to buy clothes, I always go to the plus size section first.  I was in Fashion Bug this past weekend and of course went to the plus size clearance first.  Then went over to the "regular" size clothes.  It's almost like I'm thinking that the salesperson is asking themselves, why is she looking at regular size clothes, she knows that she can't fit them, she needs to be in the plus size section.  I guess I was used to buying the biggest piece of clothing in the store for so long, my mind can't wrap around the fact that I am smaller now.  I tried on belts, just for the heck of it.  My former self could not buy a belt, because even the plus sized belts didn't fit.  So I tried the 1X belts, too big, the XL belts, too big.  I went to a M/L belt and it fit.  I was amazed, because I truely do not see myself getting smaller.
Do you think I need therapy?

Thanks Nic.  I think I will.  I think I'm watching too many episodes of Ruby.

I'm a huge believer in therapy.... for many things.  but i'm not sure that therapy can fix your mind's eye how you see yourself.

see i have  a bigger problem.  I still in my mind see me as skinny and cute.  haven't been that way since high school but i'm stuck there in my mind.

Nessa:  I have that same problem, thinking I'm skinny and cute.  However, I've never been skinny and cute.  If I knew how to upload a pic here, I'd post my HS photo.

Lisa -

You ARE skinny and cute!!!!  OMG!!  The new avie!!!!  I would so not have recognized you!!!

Um.......just a thought - when we meet, please bring identification!!!!!!!

And I know you, you're going to say, "That's why I love you - you lie to me!"  LOL!!!
Tia doesn't lie, but perhaps my vision is clouded because I see your true inner beauty and the outside doesn't matter to me!!!!!!!

Tia

GF:  You know why I'm holding the camera at that angel?  To hide the sagging skin at my neck.  OMG, I have so much sagging skin.  I didn't think it was going to be a problem, but I don't even think I can wear shorts any longer.

But I still love you for saying such sweet things to me - even if they are lies!!!

Let me ask you something - Do you think any less of me because I haven't lost every bit of weight that I need to?  Would you tell me that my sagging skin is ugly?

No, you wouldn't say that to me, so please don't say it to yourself.

I know you're a much better caregiver than a caretaker, but if you're not moisturizing, get your butt to Walmart and check out the Olay line of skin creams - they've gotten great ratings - right up there with the department stores.  For your body, you can't beat Olay Quench (purple bottle), and I KNOW they have some sort of firming cream.  Obviously, you're not going to see results overnight, and you'll have to be diligent about applying it, but even if the end result is softer skin, who can argue with that??

Baby, if *I* can wear shorts, YOU can wear shorts!!!  Remember, we're all in this together!!!!

Tia

I went to the Goodwill yesterday (yes, I'm still buying clothes from there) and picked up 3 new pairs of pants and a skort.  I figured I could wear the skort to NY when we go.  Came home, tried everything on and it all fit, but then, showed Larry the skort and he was like, you can't wear that you're legs are so saggy.  And he is right, eventhough I am walking 5 miles a night, I still have saggy skin and I do moisturize, started that before WLS.  I think I just stretched my skin beyond repair.  Although I haven't bought any Oil of Olay, been looking, but don't know which one will benefit me the most.

And of course I would never think less of you because you aren't a bean pole.  You ARE a BEAUTIFUL PERSON, in and out!!!

Tell you what, on one of my ENDLESS trips to places like Ulta, etc., I'll check out the line for you and see what I can find for the neck, face, etc.

Unfortunately, as far as the rest, I don't really think much beyond ps is going to help.  Trust me, I'm there myself.  And as far as Larry, smack him - he DOESN'T need to be saying stuff like that!!!!!  Men!!!  They....well, actually, SOME women, too, often don't think before they say something.  GRRR!!!!

Don't worry, Tia the make-up ho will help you out!!!

Hugs,

T
