2 year Surgiversary

Wow I can not believe how fast these 2 years went.  On March 6th was my 2 year Re-Birthday.  I am so glad that I did this surgery for me. I am so blessed to have my health back. No more diabetes, no more sleep apnea! I have the energy to play with my kids and I can keep up with all of them. I feel GREAT and LIFE is good!  Thank you Dr. Von Rueden for giving my life back to me!

I am currently 10 pounds under my dr's goal weighing at 144lbs. He wanted me at 154 so that when I go to have my extra skin removed I would weigh at about 140.  Right now plastics will be on hold for another year since I am still nursing my baby.

I want to thank everyone for all the love and support that I have always received from my OH family.

Hi Julie honey!!

How are you doing girl?

Yes that was the day of my surgery 03-06-07 I hated taking pics and I would never really smile in any pics taken of me.  Disgusted is what I felt and girl it was so depressing.
As far as going for surgery I was thinking of lapband at first until I went to my first seminar(information session) after hearing about the lapband I knew that type of surgery was not for me.  I am such a big baby and I hate needles, I just couldn't stomach the idea of getting poked and prodded for fills and hearing about ports flipping possible corosion with the band inside of me it scared me. When I had my first cosult with DVR he suggested that I have the RNY and I felt comfortable with his decision and I agreed the more I researched.  DVR bypasses the minimal and his patients do really great and are not sick and malnourished. As you can see I even had a baby and the baby and I did great. Not that I am saying it was right for me to get pregnant but it happened and we both did great.

Keep researching find out what your insurance covers and when you go to the first consult see what the doctor recommends for you then go from there.

As far as my commute girl it is a killer but I am handling it well thank goodness. I miss my kids alot and wehn I get home I only have 1 1/2 hours to spend with Gianna because she has to be in  bed by 8pm since she has to wake up at 7 am. Then Gia is stuck on me from the moment I walk in until we go to bed at 10pm. Poor Little Gino gets my attention until 9:30 and he goes to bed. So I miss them terribly. But I know that it will get easier with time.

Thanks for the congrats and the sweet words.

I miss you too.

Love ya!

Thank you Cira for the kind words. I am just so scared of bypass I worry about all the skin and I have heard from my nut that you get so sick since your body cant absorb vitamins. I am really worried and I dont think plastic surgery would be covered by insurance if I had all that skin... I appreciate your honesty.

I know you are scared and it is normal to be scared that is why you need to do what you feel is right for you after you have a consult and you feel you trust the surgeon you choose then you go from there.  If you follow your dr's guidelines to the T, you will do great.  Alot of people that do not get enough vitamins is because they do not take their supplements religiously!  For example I make sure I never ever forget my vitamins. If I missed a couple during the day I will take them even if it is late at night.  I do not play when it comes to taking my vitamins.  If you ever lurk on the main forum you will read a lot of people saying oh they got so sick because they were doing so good and stop taking their supplements. Then they come back to say they have nerve damage and so forth. Well, tell me didn't your surgeon tell you that your supplements are a must for life? Why don't they take it then?
Gino had surgery too and he is doing great. I am on him like a hawk making sure he does not skip his. We eat healthy we make protein a priority and then our veggies and fruits.  If you follow your dr's guidelines trust me you will do great.  As far as for the extra skin it really doesn't matter what surgery you have had. My skin was already stretched out for years and the belly from having babies. Even if I had had lapband that skin will never retract completely.   Plastic surgery is not for everyone that I know. But girl I rather deal with my extra skin than being heavy and unhealthy.

Now there are a lot of people that will be in the gym forever lifting weights to build muscle and toning their body it might work for a small percentage but not all will go back to normal.
I don't have the elasticity that a lot of people have so I knew that regardless of how fast or slow I lost weight I was not getting it back to normal regardless.

By the way a panneculectomy (sp) gets covered if there are skin irritations and stuff.

Big hugs to you!

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
