Hi everyone. Hope you all are doing well. I am now 2 weeks and 1 day post op and I am having trouble swallowing pills. I cut them up, but still have some trouble. Can I take liquid calcium ? Has anyone tried it. And, the horrible flintstone chewable vitamins. I do not know how kids can like them. I about gag when I start chewing, sometimes I let them just sit in my mouth until they dissolve, but I feel like I could hurl. Can I take anything else or can I take liquid multi vitamins too ?  I would appreciate any feed back you can give. What a gorgeous weekend we are having. !!!!!! I hate to see it end.:(

Thanks in advance and take care all,

Ellen,

Being only out  two weeks, you should probably still be taking liquid vitamins.  Now of course each doctor is different, but my surgeon told me at my one month appt to keep taking liquids for another 2-4 weeks, so I took them for a total of 2 months, then I switched to chewables.

Hope this helps,

Sandi

Ellen,

I had a real hard time with calcium until I got the calcium crystals from Bariatric Advantage. It dissolves very well into what ever you are drinking I recommend the flavorless.  I also had a heck of a time with the texture and taste of the chewable vitamins, I used Centrum chewable, I used to have to force myself to take them, and then I pretty much just let them dissolve in my mouth.  I will say that your taste buds will calm down to a degree and you'll feel better about a lot of this stuff eventually.  yes, I had the back door open this afternoon, heavenly!!!

I took all liquid vitamins/calcium/B12 for the first few weeks...then I go the bariatric advantage chewable's...and that's al I need...although the taste isn't all that great, i just let them dissolve...good luck to you!!  Oh, and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Hi Ellen,

Wow I didn't know that you could take pills this early out.  My doctor said we needed to crush the pils, take liquid or chewables for 3 months.

For chewables you can go to walmart and get gummy vites for adults or children. They are tasty because they are like gummies. My children and I love them.  Back then when I had my surgery I was taken liquid centrum it was yucky but I just chugged it down.  I wish I had known about the gummy vites then! lol
As for the calcium I bought Tropical Oasis calcium citrate. I purchased it on line but I know they sell it at GNC.
The lowest price I have seen it online is for 12.63 but then you have to pay for shipping.

My B-12 I take a shot 1 time a month. I do it myself at home.

Good luck sweetie it will get easier soon.  Please contact me or anyone here anytime you need help.

Enjoy the nice weather!

Hugs,
Cira

Ellen,

You most certainly can take liquids.  I was on them for at least my first month.  Now I take calcium in pill format but they are huge and sometimes don't like to go down in one swallow.  I'm still taking chewable multi's per my nut's instructions.

Take care,
Heather
