3 THINGS FOR TGIF!!

Julie -

My heart breaks for your friend, and also for you as her enabler.  And I mean that in the spirit of friendship.  You ARE enabling her by comforting her with food.  I think I speak for everyone here when I say that MOST of us continue to turn to food to feed our emotions - maybe not as much now as pre-op, but a lot of times, the desire is still there.

She's "trying" to diet, yet is eating chocolate chip cookies and ice cream?  No, no, no!!!!  I know it sounds easier said than done and I honestly don't mean to sound judgemental, but there's got to be something, some activity that she can do alone, or perhaps with you or another friend, to make herself feel better.  Chances are, once you left, if there were any goodies leftover, she ate them and felt WORSE.

I wish I knew the right things to say, but I will say that by doing these types of things for her, you're actually "killing her with kindness," and I know you're not that kind of friend.  I hope she is able to get some relief for her physical and mental pain.

Hugs,

Tia

I'm glad K is getting better.

THis NY trip sounds like fun.  I just dont' think i have the time to do it.

Hey!  Glad K is on the mend :)  As for the tea room; I'll be there!!!  Just let me know when the grand opening is!  Have a great time at the dentist today.  Yesterday was Kylie's first dental visit and she was GREAT!  Floyd had that bothersome tooth of his extracted (ended up being super infected and not worth saving).  I have an appointment set up for a visit without the little monkeys.  I have to say I LOVE this dentist and all of the staff!  They even called last night to make sure Floyd was doing fine recovering!  White Marsh Family Dentistry across from the mall near the library.  LOVE them!

That's great that KRM did well - I'm so proud of her!!  Sounds like it's time for a present!!  LOL!!!

A great time at the dentist?  Are you high?  Today is crown prep day, in 2 weeks, it's crown on day and 4 fillings day, 2 weeks after that, 2 more crown, 2 weeks after that, 2 more crowns!!!  Are you seeing the ugly pattern??????

My endo is over in the same complex, but it's Endodontics Associates, on the top floor.

So I'm a little confused - was Dad's treatment day yesterday or today?

WTF is OH doing now?  I'm getting "Notification" emails that I have a response to my post PLUS the actual post.  Just another way to load up the inbox!!!

Yep, she did really well and got to get a few things from the goodie bin!  She's got all of her teeth, no cavities, brushes well, and perfect spacing.  WOOHOO!  Goes back in 6 months.  So what do they do to prep for a crown?  I'm sure whatever it is I'd want to be knocked out or heavily NUMBED!

As for being "high", these days I WISH I were!!!  Dad's treatment began at 8am today.

OH is looking into it, because the message above says I have 13 unread messages, when, in reality, there are none.  I'll email you their response to me.  I think it's a glitch.

Way to go, Kylie!!!!!

Okay, so when you can breathe, we'll get together to "try" to take your mind off of things temporarily.  Not that it will, but you know what I mean.

Do they expect Dad to be ill immediately after this treatment or will it take some time?

He may not get sick at all.  One of the first things they put into his line is an anti nausea med.  In fact, his doc said that many people don't get sick anymore.  Chemo has come a long way!  I'm going to call Mom in a few to see how he's doing.  Not sure if she can have her phone on or not, but I'll try.

p.s. Floyd is no longer at Catches at all.  They are SO not doing well.  Last Friday there were SIX people in the bar!  Sad news is that another restaurant, Becker's, is FINALLY supposed to be opening across the street down at the traffic light.  They have much more exposure so they might end up putting Catches out of business.

That's great news....well, relatively speaking - I sure hope he doesn't get sick.  Why do I get the impression that he's SO not a good patient, like someone else's Dad?  Keep me posted, okay?  I'll be around all weekend.  No KB since Gman's off, but not sure what Mom and I are doing.

Wow!!!  Let me guess..............ELVIS was IN the building?  SIGH.  That's a shame, because Catches SEEMS like a nice place and they had great ritas.

Holy crap!!!  Becker's has been standing there for what, 10 years???????  I'll believe it when I see it.

Definitely not the time to be in any sort of hospitality business!!!

Sorry, forgot to add - a crown prep basically involves being numbed (I'll feel NOTHING during, but afterward will be a different story).  I actually prefer a root canal to a crown prep.  Once I'm numb, there's drilling, grinding, and my gum being pushed away from the tooth to get the proper mold.  No fun!!  Nasty-ass burning smells, the taste of blood, etc., and you know me with smells and textures!!!!

Now I need a rita.  I'm telling ya, for as much as these men have been in my mouth, I should be enjoying this a LOT more!!!!!

Tia you are right to some extent. She is a grown woman and just like each of us she has to make decisions for herself. Yes I did enable her but she hasnt had any sweets for 3 months. I guess she was desperate. I tried to talk her into a walk or a  movie but I had no luck. I did what she asked and I think all of us as friends would do the same. Maybe I am wrong I dont know. I think it depends on each cir****tance. Maybe next time I will take her a fresh veggie or fruit plate. I think that would be much better...
Have a good dentist appt. I want to get work done but its so expensive even with insurance..

Loser's visualize the penalties of failure. Winners visualize the rewards of success.
