Latest on my Dad...

Well, the brain scan came back that there is currently no cancer in Dad's brain.  That's the good news.  The bad news is Dad doesn't have just one tumor in his lung.  He has two.  One tumor (about the size of a quarter) is in the upper right lobe of his lung and one smaller one in the middle lobe of his right lung.  He DOES have cancer in the lymph nodes and they are located in the middle of his chest.  The reason his lower right back (kidney area) is hurting is because cancer in in the bone there also.  He has cancer of the bone in his rib cage.  Basically he has cancer from his neck to his lower spine.  The pain he has from his shoulder to his elbow is caused by the tumors in his lung pressing on nerves.  The doctor was eager to start chemo but is waiting for results of some test.  If that turns out ok, they have a pill that they can give Dad instead of chemo which is very powerful and he will start on that right away.  Please continue to pray for him; he seems to have a lot of faith and reads the Bible most of the day and prays.  Mom said that he is worried about Kylie if anything happens to him.  He is worried about the way she will respond since she's so very attached to Poppie.  From all of us, thanks again for your prayers and support.  Chemo starts tomorrow and he will eventually also get radiation for his bones.

Heather, Sending prayers and best wishes to you and your family. Now that the doctors know what they are dealing with, they can take action to fight this terrible thing and improve the quality fo life for your Dad. At least that is my hope.

Blessings to you all.

Heather, I'm "sending" you a prayer via Prayer UPS!  Your family is very brave!  I'm proud of the strength you have, even though it may not "feel like" it.  I hope all goes smoothly!

Hey girl -

I got your Mom's email yesterday or the day before and sent her one back, telling them as always, they're in my prayers.  As are all of you.

I also mentioned to her my idea of Poppie creating a video for his girls.

Here's hoping Poppie will be around for a long time for all of his girls!

Hugs,

T

Heather so sorry about your dad. They thought my moms cancer was in the midastashim as well I hope I spelled it right thats the middle of the chest. I hope that the meds will help him. I know this is a long painful journey. The worst part for me was not knowing which treatment we should persue. I pray for your family and wish you all peace and comfort knowing alot of people are praying for you. I also found a place to call and they will pray by phone with you and also once you call they will put your prayer in the prayer chapel for 30 days. Their members will pray for 30 days whatever your request is. Thier phone number 24 hours a day is 800-669-7729 you can also place your request online as well at Unity.org. I have found thier words very comforting. Never give up hope Heather.. I also think Tias idea about a video is a great idea..

My thoughts and prayers are with you.  This will be struggle for you and your family not to mention for your Dad, but it sounds like everything is in perspective.  As a grandmother I can relate to your father's thoughts about the little one, your grandchildren are so very special, our children are as well but it is just so different with grandchildren.

Value and treasure each and every day with him.

Hugs and prayers
