REALLY.  My hubby grew up on Westchester Avenue right by there!  my inlaws still live there.  it's very close to their house.

Hmm... I know Dr. Averbach's office is staying at 700 Geipe Rd but moving to another suite... Maybe Averbach and DVR are teaming up now that Singh has left?

No idea...  Hmm are you going to a preop class on Monday by any chance? LOL I have one scheduled for 8am...

nope no pre-op class on monday.  we have not had our initial visit yet. so until we have that set up no classes.

now brian is telling me he's scared that he's going to be HUNGRY after this.  I think he's missing the whole point.  sometimes he's such a moron.

I think it is a male thing...  My hubby is worried that if I am hungry all the time now, how will I do it after I CAN'T eat... ROFL, he asked me tonight "if you are like this during the liquid diet, how are you going to do it for the rest of your life"  I give up trying to make him understand that it is a whole lifestyle change for me, and yet that someday I will again be eating "real" food!

I'm wondering if my husband is going to even pass all the tests.  I don't think he gets this.  he says he does but he watches his boss who is a past DVR patient and she's out drinking in the bars and eats whatever she wants.  granted he sees that her pouch is 'failing' because she's failing the pouch...   but i don't think he's going to give up his snacky ways or get off his tush....

Has he seen the NUT or read WLS for dummies yet?  Both of these really opened up my eyes...  What NUT are you seeing? Does DVR use Arlene Swantko?  I really liked her, she was VERY up front and gave me the info I needed to know I could live with this, and just what life will be like.

Are you planning to have surgery together or have one then the other?  If you *KNOW* this is the right path for you, it might help him to watch your journey before he makes a decision.  Or maybe he needs to meet a few WLS patients who made it work for them, and see how they have worked it out...

No he's done NONE of that yet.  I will see the NUT DVR suggests I'm sure.  I might pick up WLS for Dummies today if i can find a copy and B&N.

we planned for him to go first ( i was hoping APRIL for him but more than likely June) and then I'll go a few weeks later (or maybe in October as I have this whole delightful fantasy of the neighbors seeing me go in for the winter huge and re-emerge in the spring all skinny)

Does HE think he is ready for this?  My hubby is not at all ready.   It is something I hope he considered eventually, but for now his idea is that my weight loss will inspire him to get out and exercise more and that he will lose weight with me but natually -- we will see how it goes on his plan.

I think you have to let hubby figure it out on his own, and consider changing your plan if he isn't ready -- this is something only the person making the change can decide if they are ready for... Does he read this site? maybe get him over to the men's forum even...

And/or when you see DVR tomorrow check in Dr. Averbach's office and see if Arlene Swantko is in, she will sell copies of her book (about $18, and it is small but well worth reading!) that breaks each step down and makes it black and white.  I even bought an extra copy of it to send my mom since she will be here with me after surgery and I wanted them to know exactly what was happening, and why... *grins* My mom has now passed the book around our family and it seems most of them have read it - and this will make my life easier because when we visit family they are out of state and now i know they will be ready for not only a new me, but a new food me!

Good luck!!!  I am sooo ready for Monday since that is my preop class - what time is your appointment?

yes he thinks he's ready.  I don't think he grasps just how much he has to change.  he is the one who asked for this.  but he's scared.

i mean for him it means going to the dentist and getting his dentures fixed so he can wear them and learn to really chew food.

it means learning to bend and walk and MOVE  he doesn't do any of that now.

I drove over today to make sure i knew where the new office was.   I know now.

our appointment is at 11:30.
