Newbie

I have been a memeber on Oh for awhile, but I am just figuring out how to post. I'm a little slow. LOL. I am looking to make some new friends that know and support what I am going through. I am planning to have my surgery with Dr. Von Rueden. I have completed all the test, I have an appointment next week. The last appointment for him to check me out and give the okay for my paperwork to be submitted to insurance. And then I wait again. I have made it this far, that wait will be a breeze. I HOPE. LOL.

Welcome to the Maryland Board! You are well on your way to an exciting change for yourself. We are happy to assist in any way we can. A number of folks are heading home for the day. So you might not see too many responses overnight.

Thanks!!! That's ok. I am learning. LOL. I am just glad that there are so many wonderful supportive people here. Thank you for the support. This site is great. You dont get to hear all the "real stories" in the information sessions or from the doc.

I agree - That is why I like to go to support groups and spend so much time on this site. Another advantage is that it helps keep you connected to the process. The surgery is only a tool, part of the process. We still need to do the rest of the work that goes with it. Staying connected helps me maintain my focus.

Hello glad to meet you. I have been on the board for a while too. I havent had surgery yet but hope to soon. I love this board there is so much to learn and some great people here. I hope you find great sucess here and I am happy to be your friend and support you during the process. I hope when its my turn I will get all the support I need... Good luck...

Hello! Well, after I reading your reply to my post, I see we are in the same boat...... yes, I agree the worst part is really over with.....the rest is a breeze. Waiting is gonna be rough, but I can handle it...... or at least I hope so! I am soooo impatient!

Welcome to the Maryland board!  The process sometimes seems like it takes forever but in no time you'll be taking your place on the loser's bench and onto a healthy life!!

I, as well as many others on here, had DVR (although mine was at GBMC).  You're in wonderfully skilled, competent and caring hands.  I admit that at my first consult, I was a little taken aback by his seeming aloofness, but he IS a very compassionate doctor. 

Just hang in there, it'll all be worth it in the end!!

Hello and welcome.  I don't post nearly as much as I used to post because life is just very busy these days, but I wanted to stay "welcome" anyway.  You have chosen a truly wonderful doctor and practice.  I really knew very little about what distinguishes one practice from another when I chose DVR.  However, today, I am very grateful to have paid one program fee and to have unlimited access to a talented and caring staff.  You will not find many (if any) other programs that offers an award-winning surgeon, an accessible nurse, an on-staff nutritionist and an on-staff therapist (that also had WLS).  I hope you were able to make it to his support group meeting tonight.  I had to work and I am very sad I had to miss the second one in a row.
