What a week my family has had....I am writing this to ask you all to say prayers and send healing thoughts to my Dad.  He has carcinoid cancer, and this past week he has gone downhill fast, after getting preliminary testing done so he could participate in a research study specifically for people with Carcinoid cancer, trying two different new medicines.  After a grueling two days of baseline tests, he became disoriented and would not respond to anyone.
He has been in the hospital for the past 2 nights with a very high fever and symptoms of dementia that may or may not be explained by this fever.  they haven't yet determined what infection is causing the fever, and he has had a myriad of tests, including a spinal tap, Head CT brain scan and MRI and others.  He has been so confused that last night he ripped out his urinary catheter and his IV on the way to the bathroom.  Now he has more complications from the loss of a lot of blood before the staff discovered him.  he is in danger of another infection and blood clotting in his urethra causing bladder blockage.  he hasn't voided his bladder all day today and the staff had to reinsert and remove his catheter 2 more times after flushing out the urethra.  This is very painful.  I know this is TMI, but please pray and send healing thoughts his way that he will get through this and be able to go home and spend more time with my mom. Thanks.

Jennifer,

Cancer is a terrible, terrible thing and no one deserves to go through it. I lost my father to cancer 20 years ago and it was awful.  I'll be thinking about you, your father and your family and he'll obviously be in my prayers.  Keep your chin up.
