THE FEED BAG
I made a GREAT shepherd's pie on Sunday....well, great if you like shepherd's pie!! LOL!!!
I layered seasoned ground beef (seasoned with brown gravy mix and pepper) in a greased baking pan, put cooked/drained peas and carrots on top of that, and then, to instant potatoes, I added Greek yogurt, garlic salt, butter and chives and layered that and baked until the potatoes got kind of crunchy/puffy and brown. OMG!! It was SO good!! I'm not a fan of potatoes as a rule, unless they're baked sweet potatoes, but OMG!!! And, it had the added boost of protein from the Greek yogurt (used, of course, like sour cream). And....it was CHEAP!!!!
Yesterday, I had:
B - Protein Bar
S - Cottage cheese
L - Lean cuisine pot roast
D - Shepherd's pie
S - NSA chocolate chip ice cream
Tonight's gonna be ugly!! Pizza, chocolate cake, ice cream!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
All my fluids, all my vits!!

L - 5 hot wings from KFC (hey, I was on my way to class!)
D - Ribeye steak (trimmed of course!) with brocolli & cheese
Dessert - Breyers Carb Smart Fudgesicle.
All of my fluids and all but one of the calciums (dammit again! I can't wait for the chocolate chewables to come out when they finally do!)

Hey MoeMoe!!
There are lots of schools of thought on hair loss after wls. DVR told me it was caused by a lack of protein, but I'm not convinced. I was THE MOST compliant wls patient you could find, protein first and foremost, etc., and from month 3-6, I lost hair. And my hair was thin and fine to begin with. However, I didn't stress, because I knew a) it would grow back, and 2) stress would make it worse!!! I'm convinced it was just the stress of the surgery on the body.
As far as the Biotin, I DID use that for a little bit, but honestly didn't notice that it helped. There are several "hair loss" shampoos out there, Nioxcin being the most popular, but it's pretty pricey.
Personally, I found Pantene's Restoratives line to be a great help. Once my hair started growing back, it came back better than before - although it's still thin and fine, even my hairdresser agrees. Now I continue to use Pantene, but use the moisture renewal formula. It's great stuff!!!!

I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the advice. My hair is also fine and thin, so I hope if I do have hair loss, it won't be that bad. I've been very compliant with my protein and I went to trader joes last night and loaded up on the greek yogurt and even found some milk (tastes like greek yogurt) that was loaded with protein, too. One thing I can say about this surgery is that it really made me aware of what I'm eating.... I never used to pay that much attention.
B- Protein Shake

D- Greek yogurt w/ SF strawberry preserves ( I had class last night)
