Twelve Days four hours
I'm an idiot but I'm EXCITED that in 12 days and four hours we meet with our doctor for our initial intake. While I've had most of my tests for other things in the last year or so DH has not so he will need to really start from scratch.
Now lots of folks here have used DVR so can anyone give me an idea of what's going to happen?
we won't have any issues with insurance approval.... we don't have a 3 or 6 month supervised diet requirement either...

Nessa,
This is a very exciting time. I remember it so clearly I was beaming with joy as time got closer.
Wow you guys are lucky that you don't need the 3 or 6 months supervised wl requirement. So things will go very quickly for you. Make sure to write any questions that you have so you don't forget what to ask when you meet with him. You will be required to do a phsyc eval if you haven't had one. If you haven't he will probably recommend you go to Ranesa McNally she is awesome. Whatever tests that they think you should have will be given to you to get done. I am sure that you will be so surprised as to how quick it will go for you and your husband.
My husband also had surgery with DVR he is our Hero!

you both had it? how far apart? I think Brian needs/wants to go first even though I'll be ready before him.
I love how we are being treated like a couple. that there is a 'couples' appointment block!
I've been in therapy on and off for years now (off now since 2001) so I am sure to need a new psych eval. of course my ADHD might be an issue...
i've had an endoscopy, a colonoscopy and a sleep study within the last two years.

Yes I had my surgery March 2007 and my husband had his August 2008.
Dr. Von Rueden's staff have always treated us great. My husband was always against having wls for himself (he was 100% supportive for my surgery) but when he saw how great I was doing that my diabetes and sleep apnea was resolved and that I could do so many thing with my kids that I couldn' do before he began to think about it for him.
Now his diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol and sever sleep apnea has been resolved and he says that he is so glad that he had this surgery. He is 30 pounds away from meeting his goal.
As fo far as the tests that you already had done. I am not sure how long from the time you had the tests if you are exempt from taking them again. But they will definitely tell you when you go to your first appointment.
Keep us posted.

Rose - insurance person/ she will also go over the "program fee" with you
Nurse - Weight and height measurment
sloane - nutritionist
DVR: will answer any question you may have and discuss which surgury
he feels is best for you.
Your husband will probably leave the office with orders for 10-12 different tests.
You will probably need an arterial blood gas test and a few others depending on
what you have already had and how long ago.
Good luck and get ready for the roller coaster ride of WLS : there are twist, turns,
hills and dips but it is SO worth it in the end.

I'm sure i'll need blood work again... i know our GP is on board for this and will be happy to help out as needed.
the program fee was already discussed at the seminar. personally for a year of access to a nutritionalist and a support staff I think it's cheap.
I don't really have anything to add to what has already been shared. I just wanted to extend my best wishes. I have been more than pleased with DvR and his team. I had many self-imposed fears. They did everything possible to alleviate those and make me comfortable with the decision to move forward. I have not regretted it.
